NORTH EAST Sub-Branch NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2018

Three great pubs were visited for the November social and again we were joined by some members of the South main branch. It would be good to meet a few more North East Sussex sub-branch members at a social. Please don't feel you have to come to all 3 pubs. The December social has two pubs on the Uckfield - Tunbridge Wells No 29 bus route which you may like to consider.

GOOD BEER GUIDE 2020

The meeting arranged for Wednesday 9th January 2019 at 8pm, is to discuss the Sub-branch area’s possible entries for the 2020 Good Beer Guide and the allocation of surveys for this purpose. All sub-branch members are welcome. Please let me know if you will be able to join us.

The latest Beer Scoring information is available on the sub-branch website. Please log on to the Members Area to access this information. It is good to see that a lot more people have been scoring their beers - keep it up! This information is used to determine which pubs are selected for possible inclusion in the Good Beer Guide. The cut off time, for scores to be included in the final list for pubs in the GBG 2020, is midnight on the 26th December.

REAL CIDER PUBS

I am now the CAMRA Cider representative for the sub-branch. We currently have 3 pubs in our area, which sell real cider either straight from the box or via a hand pump. These are The Half Moon, Cade Street, The Alma, Uckfield and The Kings Head, East Hoathly. The Roebuck, Laughton does sell real cider but only during the summer months. I am trying to establish if there are any other pubs which I could add to this list. Therefore, when you are visiting a pub within the sub-branch area it would be really helpful if you could establish whether real cider is sold and if so, email me with the information. Thank you.

The first two sessions, November and December, at The Hurstwood, High Hurstwood for traditional ‘Pint and Conversation’ evenings have been successful and well attended. These are held on the first Monday of each month from 7pm. There will be a beer on tap from the local Engineer Brewery and the pub usually provides a selection of nibbles. All are welcome.
