ST. PETERSBURG – Some Palm Harbor resi - dents believe the best way to deal with state prop - erty tax inequities, along with the potential de - crease in municipal services, is to become their own city. The Greater Palm Harbor Community Coalition, a group of civic organizations and community serv - ices, presented the county’s legislative delegation a proposed city charter Thursday. The document is the end result of a process that began in August, when citizens of Palm Harbor, Ozona and Crystal Beach first discussed how Pinellas County’s budget for unincorporated areas would change. State Rep. Peter Nehr, R-Tarpon Springs, spon - sored the legislation, though he said he has no opin - ion on the issue. He believes the residents should de - cide for themselves. “There are some people who feel they’re paying a lot more in taxes than they’re receiving in serv - ices,” Nehr said. As of press time, the legislators hadn’t made a de - cision on the bill, which is co-sponsored by Rep. Tom Anderson, R-Dunedin. hat are you thankful for?
