But there are at least seven species of whales found year-round in Hawaiian waters, as well as four species of resident dol- phins. Between 2000 and 2002 I studied many of these other species, based off of Maui, and since then, with a team of colleagues, have been undertaking studies of resident whales and dolphins off Hawaii Island, Oahu, and Kauai. This battery-operated device is designed to turn nicotine and other chemicals into a vapor. The vapor is then inhaled, just like a cigarette. However, because e-cigarettes are somewhat new, the FDA has not completed clinical studies. This means that the type of chemicals, amount of nicotine, and the risk associated with using them, is still unknown.
