WBO BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMP TOMOKI KAMEDA DEFENDS AGAINST INTERIM TITLIST ALEJANDRO HERNANDEZ & THE RETURN OF LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CONTENDER ANDRZEJ FONFARA SET FOR SATURDAY, NOV. 1 LIVE ON SHOWTIME® NEW YORK (Oct. 2, 2014) – Undefeated WBO Bantamweight World Champion Tomoki “El Mexicanito” Kameda will make the third defense of his title against interim titlist and mandatory challenger Alejandro Hernandez on Saturday, Nov. 1, live on SHOWTIME® (9 p.m. ET/PT) in the co-feature of a SHOWTIME BOXING: Special Edition. In the main event of the tripleheader, popular light heavyweight contender Andrzej “Chicago’s Polish Prince” Fonfara will return to his adopted hometown against experienced veteran Doudou Ngumbu in a 10-round light heavyweight showdown from UIC Pavilion at University of Illinois-Chicago. In the opening bout of the telecast, undefeated super featherweight contender and former Interim WBA Featherweight World Champion Javier Fortuna will take on twice-beaten Puerto Rican Abner Cotto in a 10-round super featherweight bout. The event, titled “The Homecoming,” is promoted by Warriors Boxing. Chicago’s Fonfara, 26, a native of Warsaw, Poland, had won 13 in a row before a hard-fought loss to WBC Light Heavyweight World Champion Adonis Stevenson this past May in a thrilling battle on SHOWTIME. A heavy underdog, Fonfara floored the champion in his hometown of Montreal in the ninth round in a showdown that was closer than most experts anticipated. Fonfara (25-3, 15 KOs) is now 15-1 with one no-contest since July 2008. The WBC No. 6 contender at 175 pounds, Fonfara has defeated three former world title holders -Byron Mitchell (TKO 3), Glen Johnson (a clear 10-round decision in perhaps a career-best victory) and Gabriel Campillo (TKO 9) -in his last six starts.

www.wheelswithinwales.uk Olympic Welshman boxes clever with Mercedes-Benz Vito Published: 27th July 2016 Author: Robin Roberts Online version: https://www.wheelswithinwales.uk/olympic-welshman-boxes-clever-with-mercedes-benz-vito/ Joe Cordina thinks his new Vito from Euro Commercials is a knockout Welsh Olympic boxing contender Joe Cordina has one word to describe his Mercedes-Benz Vito – knockout! The 24-year-old Cardiff fighter is in the final stages of preparation for this summer’s Olympic Games in Brazil and training just became a great deal easier, because he has local Mercedes-Benz Dealer Euro Commercials in his corner. www.wheelswithinwales.uk The Cardiff-based company, which also has outlets in Newport and Swansea, has loaned Joe a sporty and spacious Vito crew van, initially for six months but with the option extending for longer once the Games are over. The 116 BlueTEC model has five seats and a practical cargo area, and has already put in some serious roadwork – Joe has been using it to travel between home and the Team GB boxing headquarters in Yorkshire on a weekly basis. “I travel up to Sheffield on Monday and stay there for the week, so I need to be able to carry a lot of kit and clothing,” he said. “But at the weekend I also want to be able to go out with my partner Lauren and our daughter Sofia Grace – she’s just one year old, so her pram and all the stuff you have to carry takes up a lot of space. “The Vito is just perfect.

Born and raised in Manchester, Fury weighed just 1lb at birth after being born three months premature. His father John named him after Mike Tyson. From Irish traveller heritage, the“Gypsy King” is undefeated in 28 professional fights, winning 27 with 19 knockouts, and drawing once. His most famous victory came in 2015, when he stunned longtime champion Wladimir Klitschko to win the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles. He was forced to vacate the belts because of issues with drugs, alcohol and mental health, and did not fight again for more than two years. Most thought he was done with boxing forever. Until an amazing comeback fight with Deontay Wilder in December 2018. It was an instant classic, ending in a split decision tie. Outside of the ring, Tyson Fury is a mental health ambassador. He donated his million dollar purse from the Deontay Wilder fight to the homeless. This book is dedicated to the cause of mental health awareness.
