Camerino is an old university city rich in architectural treasures and culture. A tranquil town, it is near the and the National Park Monti Sibillini. You will find green hills, castles, medieval towns, and it is famous for its history and culture.

For Camerino you can apply for the Buitoni Award, and the Elias Mandel Prize for Study Abroad.

What are these awards and how do I apply? - Buitoni Award: one award of a $1000 travel voucher (due January 22, 2014) - European Union Centre of Excellence (EUCE) funding: up to two awards of $1,000 each (payable upon return to UVic) [only available with the program at Urbino] - Elias Mandel Prize for Study Abroad: up to four awards of $1,000 each (payable upon return to UVic) - You will need to complete an application form (available from the department [CLE B441]), including a letter detailing any past experience in Italy and what you plan to do while there.

What are the criteria for these awards? - You will have had limited opportunity to study in Italy in the past. - You will be continuing with Italian Studies upon your return from Italy. A preference will be given to students pursuing an Italian Major, Minor, or Certificate, in that order.

What credits will I receive? - For the Urbino program, you may receive up to 3.0 units of credit total:

o You will receive 1.5 units of transfer credits (subject to UVic transfer credit policies). o Plus, you will have the option of receiving an additional 1.5 units by registering in the Ital 204 (Experiential Learning) course which will require you to write a general paper on Italy (written in English). o For EUCE funding you must register in Ital 204, and your paper will relate to Italy’s place in the E.U. (written in English).

- For the Recanati program, you may receive up to 1.5 units of credit total:

o At this time there is no possibility of transfer credits, however this may change. o You will have the option of receiving 1.5 units by registering in the Ital 204 (Experiential Learning) course which will require you to write a general paper on Italy (written in English).

- For the Camerino program, you cannot receive transfer credits, however you can receive 1.5 units of credit by registering in the Ital 204 (Experiential Learning) course which will require you to write a general paper on Italy (written in English).

- Note that for the Buitoni Award, there are no requirements beyond a stay in Italy.
