• RAMMSTEIN 2012 Natourannouncement 11.14.2011
RAMMSTEIN CONFIRMS NORTH AMERICAN TOUR 2012 THE WORLD’S MOST EXPLOSIVE ROCK BAND RETURN TO NORTH AMERICA FOR 21 DATES IN SUPPORT OF THEIR RETROSPECTIVE ALBUM RELEASE “MADE IN GERMANY 1995-2011” LOS ANGELES, CA (November 14, 2011) - RAMMSTEIN , the Berlin-based band known for their incendiary live performances, will bring their brand new live production to North America this spring for 21 dates kicking off April 20 th in Ft. Lauderdale. Tickets for the tour, promoted by Live Nation, will go on sale beginning Friday, November 18 th and will be available at Ticketmaster.com, and LiveNation.com. Demand for Rammstein's pyrotechnic-laden performances has been so great in Europe, where they regularly play capacity level soccer stadiums, the band spent nearly a full decade without setting foot on North American shores. In December 2010, the sextet returned to North America for two sold out shows including a performance at Madison Square Garden. Rammstein followed with a 9-day trek of major North American cities in spring 2011. The Los Angeles Times described the live experience as “...epic stagecraft on a Wagnerian scale, several notches up from most arena rock.” The tour announcement comes on the heels of news of the band's first retrospective release, Made In Germany 1995 - 2011 , which will be available in North America (through a distribution deal between Universal Germany and Vagrant Records) on December 13. Rammstein recently released " Mein Land ," a new four-track digital single that features two new songs: the title track and "Vergiss uns Nicht " as well as remixes from BossHoss and Mogwai.

  • Upon Greeting, the Name Five Finger Death Punch
By Ray Van Horn, Jr. frosh about Moody and his comrades of chaos, which is what accounted for Five Finger Death pon greeting, the name Five Finger Death Punch Punch’s instant endearment to Korn’s devoted flock. “Although we are a bit heavier than Korn, their calls to mind Saturday afternoons and locally fans accepted us with open arms,” Moody dotes happily. “When you are playing in front of anywhere televised Kung Fu Theaters filled with chop sockey between 10 - 20,000 people a night, let’s just say, it doesn’t hurt the ego. Jon Davis and the Korn beat-em-up flicks starring Bruce Lee, Bruce Li, family were so stellar to us! They treated us as if USonny Chiba and even a young Jackie Chan and Samo Hung. we were family. Jon gave me advice on things I had no concept of, and when you open for powerhouse For those following the Nintendo generation, Five Finger bands like Korn and Vinnie Paul of Hell Yeah, you’d better bring your A game, or just throw the towel in Death Punch rings like the logical successor to Tekken and before you get spanked!” For Ivan Moody, the here is now and Motograter Mortal Kombat, a wickedly-titled video game filled with gory is, for all intents and purposes, a “sensitive subject” with him. As one of the many victims of the mayhem and metahuman martial arts moves even the most publicized Elektra Records collapse, Motograter’s final stint came through self-financed tours with dexterous of humans couldn’t possibly pull off.

  • Critic's Choice Essay – DIR EN GREY
“Critic’s Choice Essay – DIR EN GREY” by John Dang Carrying the weight of one of Japan’s most well-known rock bands, metal band DIR EN GREY has been active for nearly 16 years since their inception in 1997, having successfully established an international fan base spanning from America to Europe altogether. Consisting of five members, Kyo (vocals), Kaoru (lead guitar), DIE (rhythm guitar), Toshiya (bassist), and Shinya (drummer), the band’s original concept laid within the visual kei movement, a popular subculture among Japanese musicians which focused on excessive make-up, flamboyant hairstyles, and gothic and punk inspired outfits, often leaving the impression of androgyny. However, through constantly incorporating their change as a band into their music and image, DIR EN GREY has transitioned away from the visual kei movement after their third album, VULGAR. As a result, in an effort to stay unique to their sound, DIR EN GREY is now considered an experimental metal band due to the different sound each album produces, which could also represent their desire to pursue their idea of expression. Centering their ideals around concepts such as “suicide is the proof of living” and “inward scream”, DIR EN GREY takes what would otherwise be negative ideas and translates them into music. Upon listening to their music or watching one of their promotional videos (the Japanese term for music video) for the first time, it would not be surprising for one to regard DIR EN GREY as vulgar, obscene, or disturbing. Although the band’s concept revolves around grotesque themes, their music can be described as a desire to ascertain a certain truth, often delving into the boundaries of one’s negativity to invoke self-realization or awareness in relation to the band’s message.
