Weekly Honors Youth Movement: Arizona is surely one of the youngest teams in the Pac-12, if not the country, entering 2017. The Wildcats’ roster includes 61 freshmen (including redshirts) on Selected by UA Coaching Staff the 120-man roster. Yes, over half the roster is a freshman eligibility-wise and there are Game 1 vs. NAU more freshmen than sophomores, juniors and seniors combined. Furthermore, 83 of the 120 Tharpe Jr. players are freshmen or sophomores, and the roster includes 77 players in their first or second year of the program. Game 5 at Colorado Demetrius the Thief: Through three games this season, junior safety Demetrius Flan- Student of the Week: Nacho Dip Winners: nigan-Fowles is one of just two players in the country with three interceptions. Flan- nigan-Fowles is tied with Central Michigan’s Josh Cox for the national lead in interceptions Game 6 vs. UCLA Student of the Week: with three. Flannigan-Fowles had two interceptions in the season opener versus NAU and Nacho Dip Winners: then picked off another pass versus Houston. He entered the season with three career interceptions in 25 games. Twice in his career, Flannigan-Fowles has picked off at least Game 7 at California Student of the Week: one pass in back-to-back games. The senior Game 11 at Oregon from Chino Hills, California embraced the move and was named a captain for Arizona’s Student of the Week: season opener versus NAU. The position change seems to have agreed with Cruikshank, Nacho Dip Winners: who started all 12 games for the Wildcats a year ago. Cruikshank had six solo tackles, one Game 12 at Arizona State tackle-for-loss and a forced fumble versus Houston. It was the second solo tackle-for-loss Student of the Week: of his career and first forced fumble. Cruikshank then had two tackles, and another half Nacho Dip Winners: tackle-for-loss against UTEP in another strong showing. Cruikshank didn’t have any tack- les-for-loss in his first 11 games as a Wildcat, but has 2 1/2 over his last four games after notching one in last year’s season finale against Arizona State. Cruikshank has 10 tackles in three games for the Wildcats this season.

Wow, Wolma: True freshman Bryce Wolma has made quite an impression so far this sea- son for the Wildcats at the tight end position. Wolma has played in all three games, but didn’t notch his first reception until Week 2 versus Houston. Against the Cougars, Wolma Game-by-Game Captains had five catches for 38 yards, providing an active target for quarterback Brandon Dawkins. He upped his production Friday against UTEP, grabbing six balls for 41 yards, including a NAU: Jacob Alsadek, Luca Bruno, Dane Cruikshank, Zach Green 1-yard touchdown catch from Dawkins. Through three games, Wolma’s 11 receptions lead the team, and he’s third in yards with 79. Wolma has helped fill the void left by Trevor Wood HOU: Layth Friekh, Gerhard de Beer, Jack Banda, the past two weeks. Wood, Arizona’s starting tight end in Week 1, is currently out with an Tyrell Johnson injury. UTEP: Zach Benjamin, Nick Wilson, Kwesi Mashack, Jarvis McCall All of the Starts: Experience certainly won’t be an issue for the big boys up front for the UTAH: Wildcats this season. The Arizona offensive line features six players who have started at least four games each. All total, the Wildcats have 105 career starts and 135 games played COLO returning among their top six linemen. Redshirt senior right guard Jacob Alsadek leads : UCLA: the way with 38 career games played and 36 starts. Senior left tackle Layth Friekh has 28 career games and 28 starts to his credit. Another senior, Gerhard De Beer, has played in CAL: 24 games over the past three seasons with 15 starts. Additionally, redshirt sophomore WSU: Nathan Eldridge started all 12 games at center last year, while fellow redshirt sophomore Cody Creason has 14 games and four starts on his resume. Finally, redshirt junior Christian USC: Boettcher has played in 14 games with 10 starts. Last season, Eldridge became the first UA OSU: freshman to start at center since Blake Kerley in 2006. Both players went on to start all 12 games that season. The big boys up front helped Arizona rush for 1,017 yards total against UO: Arizona State in the 2016 season finale and NAU in the 2017 season opener, which is a two- ASU: game program record.

He retired from baseball following the 2016 season. A top-tier quarterback prospect when he was at Cartersville High School in Georgia, Tate decided to give college football a try after his baseball career ended. Tate, now 26, reconnected with coach Rich Rodriguez, who recruited the quarterback out of high school. He moved to Tucson in the summer and has five years to play four seasons. He made his collegiate debut Friday against UTEP. He completed the only pass he attempted for 10 yards. Holland was a 33rd round pick of the Dodgers in 2011 and signed with the club.
