Speaker Biographies

Speaker – Thomas Atteberry, CFA CEO of FPA Fixed Income Fund

Mr. Atteberry is a value investor with an absolute return focus. He has a proven ability to manage strategies that have generated positive returns and preserved capital for over 30 years.

He is the Portfolio Manager for the FPA Absolute Fixed Income Strategy and the CEO of the $5.9 billion FPA New Income fund. Mr. Atteberry was a co‐recipient of Morningstar’s Fixed‐Income Manager of the Year award in 2008.

Tom began his investment career in 1982 as a stock broker with Kidder Peabody & Company. In 1987, he became Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Mercantile Bank, Joplin Missouri. In 1990, as Vice President and Chief Fixed Income Strategist of Fifth Third Bank, Tom focused on analysis and portfolio management of taxable and tax‐exempt fixed income portfolios and mutual funds. Tom joined FPA in 1997.

Mr. Atteberry earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas Christian University and is a CFA charter holder.

Speaker – Dean Curnutt Founder and CEO of Macro Risk Advisors LLC

Dean Curnutt is Founder and CEO of Macro Risk Advisors LLC (MRA), an independent derivatives strategy and transaction execution firm. The company specializes in providing financial market intelligence to institutional investors including large hedge funds, insurance companies, pension funds and money managers. The firm’s mission is to help its clients achieve superior investment results by providing valuable market insight and efficient transaction execution. MRA is a FINRA registered Broker/Dealer.

Dean regularly appears on CNBC, Bloomberg, and industry conferences to discuss his market outlook. In 2012 he was named a “Rising Star in Hedge Funds” by Institutional Investor.

Until January 2008, Dean was Managing Director and Head of Equity Salestrading at Banc of America Securities where he was a member of the Global Equities Management Team that set strategic direction for the division.

Prior to joining Banc of America Securities in 2001, Dean worked at Lehman Brothers in structured equity derivative products where his focus was on tailoring OTC derivative solutions for hedge funds and high net worth individuals.

Dean holds an MBA in analytical finance with highest honors from the University of Chicago where he received the Citibank Award for best performance in finance. He received a Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, from St. John’s University.

He lives in Rye NY with his wife, two sons and daughter.

Speaker – Michael Drury Chief Economist for McVean Trading & Investments, LLC

Michael Drury is the Chief Economist for McVean Trading & Investments, LLC. He joined the firm in 1992, after serving for five years as Senior Economist with Allen Sinai at Shearson Lehman Brothers and its successor firms. Michael began his career in New York in 1982 as Senior Economist at Gary Shilling and Company. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and did his graduate work at the University of Wisconsin‐ Madison.

Michael assesses macroeconomic developments around the world to help develop hedging strategies using futures markets in interest rates, currencies and industrial materials. He travels extensively within the United States and China, as well as to Japan, Europe, and Latin America. Michael is the author of McVean Trading’s “Weekly Economic Update.” He is the vice Chair for Programs at the Global Interdependence Center, a board member of the National Association for Business Economics, President of the Economic Club of Memphis, and founder and first President of the Mid‐South Association for Business Economics (a chapter of NABE). He is a member of the National Business Economic Issues Council (NBEIC) and a non‐resident member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Beijing. Michael lives in Germantown, TN with his wife, Mahrou, and has three children.

Cody was the founder of CL Willard Capital, a hedge fund which he closed in 2007, and the founder of WallStreetAllStars.com. Willard also serves as an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University where he teaches a class called “Revolutionomics” focused on technology and business. He is the author of a subscription‐based investment newsletter TradingWithCody.com and the author of CodyWillard.com, a blog focusing on topics from music to Wall Street to popular culture. He was an anchor on the Network, where he was the co‐host of the long‐time #1‐ rated show on the network, Fox Business Happy Hour. He wrote a monthly investment column for The Financial Times as well as columns for TheStreet.com and was a regular guest on CNBC’s Kudlow & Company and was the first and only Wall Street correspondent for the Jay Leno Tonight Show.
