The Hare Soccer & Goalkeeper Camps was founded to provide young players the opportunity to learn and prepare for a higher level of competitive soccer. The Academy Session curriculum is designed for players who are ready to make the transition from recreational to competitive soccer, and the Elite/College Prep Sessions are for the competitive club and high school player who hope to play at a collegiate level. The philosophy of Hare Soccer & Goalkeeper Camps is simple yet demanding. Our staff is challenged to develop the technical and tactical skills of their students through dynamic, fun and demanding training sessions. Players are grouped according to gender, age and ability to further create a challenging and positive training environment. The Hare Soccer & Goalkeeper Camps experience should be one where coach and player can share the rewards of improvement through a well-disciplined, educational work ethic. Camp director is Gerald Jerry Hare, founder and director of Hare Goalkeeper Academy and assistant/goalkeeper coach of Shady Side Academy Senior School varsity soccer teams and Middle School boys’ soccer team. The HSGC coaching staff includes current and former local college coaches, current high school coaches and former professional players. The camp will have special guests from Hanover College and various college soccer programs across the country who will participate in

sport & specialty the Elite/College Prep Soccer and Goalkeeper Camp. They all have many years of experience playing and teaching soccer of all levels. The coaches on the staff are all certifi ed and nationally licensed from National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) and United States Soccer Federation (USSF). Current and former college players will serve as the assistants and counselors. 21 22 Overview For grades K-12, Summer School offerings vary to meet the interests and needs of students. Courses in visual arts, English/language arts, mathematics and science are offered. Class sizes range from six to 14 students and are assigned by age and ability. Eighty-minute periods are typically followed by homework assignments of approximately the same length of time. Study halls are scheduled under the guidance of a teacher or librarian, who is available to tutor the students as needed. Students may also choose to enroll in Day Camps or Sports Camps.

Head of Summer School Dr. Michael O’Neil is a social studies teacher at Shady Side Academy Middle School and brings more than 30 years of experience to the program.
