Govt approves increase in MSP for all mandated Rabi crops

• Union Govt has announced increase in Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all mandated Rabi crops. • MSP has been hiked in the range of Rs 50 to 300 for six Rabi crops including Wheat, Chana, Masoor, Mustard, Jowar and Safflower. • MSP of wheat has been enhanced by Rs 50 making it Rs 1,975 rupees per quintal whereas the MSP for Masoor has been hiked by 300 rupees. • These MSP hike is in consonance with the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission's report.

• Country’s first one of the first medical device parks will be established in Kerala. • Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan laid down the foundation stone for Medical Devices Park. • MedSpark, the medical devices park envisaged as a joint initiative of SCTIMST and Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (KSIDC). • The services available in the park can be utilized by the medical device industries located within the MedSpark as well from other parts of India.

‘National Medical Commission’ comes into existence

• The National Medical Commission (NMC), in place of the Medical Council of India (MCI), as the country's apex regulator of medical education and profession, has come into existence. • With the NMC coming into being, the Board of Governors which superseded the MCI on September 26th, 2018, to perform its functions, has been dissolved and the nearly 64-year-old Indian Medical Council Act abolished. • The NMC comprises a chairman, 10 ex-officio members and 22 part-time members.
