West Virginia University • The Mississippi State Game • MSNsportsNET.com WVU Head Coach Rich Rodriguez • 7th Season • (100-61-2) About Coach Rod West Virginia Head Football Coach Rich Rodriguez has guided his Mountaineer squads to back-to-back Top 10 finishes, four consecutive New Year’s bowl appearances, victories in the Sugar and Gator bowls and three BIG EAST championships. Eight wins over Top 25 teams and home attendance, averaging 98% of capacity. Innovative, high-energy and enthusiastic, Rodriguez has solidified Mountaineer football as a national power. His career record as a college coach is 100-61-2, including a 55-25 record as the head coach at WVU. He has coached the Mountaineers to five-straight seasons with eight or more wins, including two- straight 11-win seasons. West Virginia has partici- pated in bowl games in each of the last five years, and 11 of the past 14 seasons, dating back to 1993. Since 2002, West Virginia has accumulated a record of 52-16, winning 76.5 percent of its games during that time. In his seventh season on the job, success in any format is nothing new to Coach Rod, and his accomplishments keep outdoing themselves. From 1988-96, he was an NAIA/Division II head Rodriguez Year-by-Year History coach at Salem (one season) and Glenville State Year School Status Record (seven seasons), posting a 45-36-2 record. He was 1986 Salem Assistant Coach 5-5-0 inducted in October 2003, into the Glenville Hall of 1987 Salem Assistant Coach 4-5-0 Fame. 1988 Salem Head Coach 2-8-0 Rodriguez is the 31st football coach all-time at 1990 Glenville State Head Coach 1-7-1 th West Virginia and the 10 to coach at his alma 1991 Glenville State Head Coach 4-5-1 mater. The compilation of the All-America roster was supervised by a panel of analysts working in large part with the historical records contained in the files of the Dr. Baker Football Information Service. The roster consists of only those players who were first-team selections on one or more of the All-America teams that were selected for the national audience and received nationwide circulation. Not included are the thousands of players who received mention on All-America second or third teams, nor the numerous others who were selected by newspapers or agencies with circulations that were not primarily national and with viewpoints, therefore, that were not normally nationwide in scope. UC has won a conference 26 field goals. He was presented the award by ESPN’s Chris Fowler. Ruffin was also a consensus all- championship five times in the last decade while playing in the postseason in nine of the last 12 American that year. years. The Bearcats have tallied 101 wins since 2007, ranking among the Top-25 teams in the NCAA FBS. In 2010, UC reached as high as No. 3 in all three major polls (Associated Press, USA Today, Bowl OUR CRADLE OF COACHES Championship Series). Coaching luminaries have patrolled the sidelines at Cincinnati. College Football Hall of Fame coach Frank Cavanaugh began his 24-season career at UC.
