Kiwi House Visit ✓ Glowworm Caves Tour ✓ Lunch in Waitomo

Enjoy a self-guided walk visiting Otorohonga Kiwi House. Get up close and personal with the large collection of unique birds and reptiles. Travelling south we arrive at one of New Zealand’s premier visitor destinations – the Waitomo Caves. Here a guide will take us underground to view the amazing limestone caves featuring stalagmites and , which have taken centuries to form. We continue to walk down to an underground stream to board a small boat to view the glow-worm grotto – an underground cavern featuring millions of glow-worms.

Driving through the beautiful Waitomo countryside, enjoy a short walk to Falls, a dramatic 35 metre high waterfall, referred to by some as “the most beautiful in New Zealand”. Backtrack to Mangapohue Natural Bridge. A boardwalk leads through a picturesque limestone gorge to the base of this natural bridge. The 17m high limestone arch is the only, albeit impressive, reminder of a once expansive ancient system. Travelling back to Waitomo, lunch is included at Huhu Café, overlooking Waitomo Village to the bushclad hills beyond.

For those brave enough there is the option to enjoy a Black Water Rafting adventure. The original Waitomo subterranean adventure will have you climbing, black water tubing, leaping and floating through the incomparable Ruakuri Cave. Over three hours you'll take leaps of faith over cascading waterfalls and float serenely down an underground river, while enjoying the glow worm show on the vaulted limestone galleries up above (Please note this option will cost an additional $80.00pp and you will miss the Waitomo Glowworm Tour and the trip to Marokopa Falls/Mangapohue Natural Bridge).
