Snowmobile Safari in Swedish-Finnish – Europe´s last wilderness

Discover the unique winter landscape of northern Scandinavia on a snowmobile. We take you right into the last wilderness of Europe and show you the untouched nature in the border triangle of Norway, and Finland. Experience the wide tundra, snow-covered forests, the breathtaking mountain world and the fantastic landscape north of the Arctic Circle. Enjoy Nordic specialties and let yourself be abducted to the world of Sápmi. On this tour you will experience the nature of Lapland in a unique way.

Tourplan

Day 1 After arriving in , we will pick you up and bring you to our camp near Jukkasjärvi. Your guide will welcome you provide you with winter clothing for the tour. In the evening there is a dinner in our Kåta. Afterwards, the guide will inform you about the tour and explain the safety precautions. Accommodation in a cozy 4-bed hut in the camp.

Day 2 After breakfast and a briefing by the guide we start the tour. Our route leads along the River to our accommodation in Soppero, which is located on a small island in the middle of the Lainio river. The dinner will be a 3-course menu with nordic specialties such as grouse, reindeer or moose. The cabin has a sauna where you can relax. Length of the stage: about 75 km

Day 3 Today we drive to the Finnish border and end in Karesuando (100 m from border to Finland). It goes through snowy forests, over frozen lakes and rivers and open moorland. In the afternoon it is possible to go ice fishing on the river. Length of the stage: approx. 70-80 km.

Day 4 We leave the camp in Karesuando. Our day’s trip leads over the Könkemää River and is taking us to Kilpisjärvi in Finland. We spend the night in a very nice timber hut. You can take a sauna in the evening to relax. Stage of the day: approx. 120 km

Day 5 Today’s stage takes us along a part of Princess Viktoria Trail and the Könkemää River, and we follow the trails up to Treriksröset, where Sweden, Finland and Norway meet in one point and continue to Hatteng in Norway. After lunch we return to Finland for the night. Stage of the day: approx. 80 km.

Day 6 After breakfast we leave Finland and we follow the trails to the area of Rostojaure, a big fishing camp in the Swedish tundra. Stage of the day: approx. 80 -100 km

Day 7 Today we go to our Camp Väkkärä, covering 140-150 km. On our way we will cross the Kungsleden, Sweden’s most famous long-distance hiking trail. In Väkkärä you spend the night in a cozy cabin close to the lake. The camp provides a sauna.

Day 8 From Väkkäräjärvi we head south, driving back to the camp we started our tour from. Depending on departure time we will visit a former sacrificial site of the Sami in Jukkasjärvi. We will also visit the world-famous Ice hotel. Day stage approx. 20-40 km

The tour plan listed here is a preliminary plan. The length of the daily stages as well as the course of the route depend on circumstances, we have no influence on, e.g. weather conditions, trafficability of the routes, snow conditions, reindeer herds etc.

Included in the tour price:

1 snowmobile per person, petrol, fully comprehensive insurance (the deductible in case of damage or destruction of the snowmobile is 7500 SEK.00), accommodation, full board, sauna, fishing license and equipment, coveralls, shoes, helmet, gloves. Participants of the tour must have a driver's license. Tour length: approx. 700-850km

Mats and Rune are former officers in with Swedish Mountain Ranger School with a lot of knowledge about the area. Marcus has been working 15 years as guide in our company.
