Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ: June 23, 2019 Sacrament Preparation and Religious Education If you have questions about the religious education or sacrament preparation programs call the Director of Religious Education, Arielle Harms, or email her at [email protected] First Communion First Communion and First Confession preparation is a two year process, requiring a year of religious education before the year of preparation for the sacraments. This usually takes place during first and second grade, with the child receiving First Communion at the end of his second grade year. A child must be 6 years old to start the first year of preparation and 7 years old to start the second year. Children receiving religious education in school still need to register for the parish program. Confirmation Confirmation is a two year process, requiring one year of the Ave Maria youth group in 9th grade and one year of Confirmation classes in 10th grade. Students receiving religious education in school still need to register for the parish Confirmation class.

Adults needing the sacrament of confirmation should contact Arielle Harms for information about adult confirmation classes. New this year—A Faith Formation Program for Families:

New parishioners will need to register as parishioners before you can register for Religious Education. This can be done through ParishSoft, but adds an extra step that will take time for processing. Please see the parish website for details.

Introducing A Family of Faith for a family-oriented approach to catechesis. This program encourages and equips parents to live their role as the primary catechists of their children. Through monthly parent sessions, monthly family meetings and program materials for at-home catechesis, A Family of Faith supports families, provides parents the opportunity to grow in their faith, and works to build a community of faith and Catholic life. Parent Meetings are the First Tuesday of the Month from 7-9 pm in the Parish Hall. Family Meeting days and times vary based on the Activity.
