SENECA COLLEGE Department of Athletics and Recreation Head Coach, Women’s Volleyball

The Head Coach is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating the technical, tactical and physical curriculum which prepares student-athletes for successful competition within the Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA). This is a part-time position that requires weekday day time and evening hours, as well as weekends. Duties: ______ Develop the overall athletic plans (long range to daily practice plans) to maximize player and team development  Preparation of offensive and defensive strategies and systems to be successful at the OCAA and CCAA level  Identification and successful recruitment of quality student-athletes; including hosting recruitment tournaments  Must support and mentor the values of excellence in academics and athletics, character development and leadership  Maintain effective communications and administrative systems amongst coaches, players, athletic and facility staff  Must work collaboratively in a large athletics and recreation department consisting of 15 varsity programs and extensive recreation programming  Complete adherence to and support of OCAA, CCAA and Seneca policies and procedures  Organization and delivery of a competitive club/high school volleyball tournament in conjunction with athletic staff  Travel with, and supervise team on all road trips

General Aspects of Seneca’s Program: ______ The competitive season begins the first week of Sept and runs through to February; with Provincial Championships in late February and National Championships in March. The team practices three to four times a week (2 hours/ practice)  Seneca competes within the OCAA league and plays an exhibition schedule of games and tournaments (approximately 30 total games)  Support personnel includes a minimum of 1-2 assistant coach(es) and a team therapist who is present at practices and games

Criteria: ______ The Head Coach must be of good character and have demonstrated a high caliber of leadership, sportsmanship and coaching performance  Have strong relationships with high school and club volleyball coaches for the purpose of recruitment  Have a minimum of five years of coaching experience with 16 to 25 year olds  Hold, or be working towards, ADV Development Coach/Level 2 NCCP volleyball coaching certification  Have exceptional interpersonal communication skills, sound administrative skills, strong motivational abilities and a commitment to fair play  Must be eligible to work in Canada

Salary:  In accordance with Seneca rates.
