Self - Catering Specials, River Camp and Bush Lodge Not sure what to do with the family over the Christmas-New Year Period or your next family getaway, why not try one of our self-catering 4 or 6 night stays for the whole family in our Luxury Eco River Camp or Bush Lodge. Take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to stay as a family in one of our luxury tents in River Camp or stunning suites at Bush Lodge. Book the entire camp or lodge and create a safe haven from the outside world. From the moment you arrive your camp or lodge will be a bubble of safety. You will be looked after by 2 dedicated camp hands and a knowledgeable ranger, all of whom will be tested for COVID-19 before your stay. No other outside interaction means you have protection from the virus for your entire stay. Included in the experience: 2 x 3hr Game Drives per Day: Make the most of the extensive knowledge that our dedicated rangers have by joining them on daily game drives. Exploring the reserve you will see a plethora of animals (including the opportunity to see the Big Five) and birds, beautiful scenery, cool and leafy valleys and vast open plains. Your ranger is an expert on all of these things and will tell you everything they know. There is nothing better than coffee with a sunrise and drinks with a sunset at one of our magnificent view points. 1 x 1hour Boat Cruise per day One of the unique aspects of Sibuya Game Reserve is its proximity to the beautiful Kariega River. The aptly named River Camp is set right on the banks of the river and your ranger can take you on a cruise either up or down the river showing you the different water birds and possibly even some animals as you go. Take a picnic or use the camps fishing equipment to do some fishing while you are out there. We even offer the option to combine 2 of your included boat cruises into one to take a longer boat ride down to the Kariega river mouth for a walk and picnic on one of the pristine Blue Flag beaches in Kenton on Sea. If you are staying in Bush Lodge it is just a short drive to the River to take advantage of these activities. Other Activities: If you are looking for something other than the game drives and boat cruise to keep you entertained you could take one of our stable canoes for a paddle on the river. An opportunity to view the animals and birds from a different perspective-life jackets are provided if needed and pack your own drinks for a more leisurely paddle. Bush walks are available in place of a game drive-from River Camp take a short drive to our Bush Lodge where your ranger will take you on one of the many lovely walks around the property. Chances of seeing Giraffe, Zebra, Impala, Nyala, Blesbok amongst others on foot make it a worthwhile activity to do. The stunning valley walks also offer up the chance to see one of our rare cycads and also a few of the harder to see birds. If you are staying in Bush Lodge these walks can be used at your leisure. The camps also have their own fishing equipment which can be used from the banks of the river and our camp hands would be happy to lend their advice and help where needed. Bush Lodge has it’s own heated pool available for swimming and at River Camp the river provides a refreshing dip to wake you up in the mornings. Complementary WIFI is also available during your stay so you can stay in touch with loved ones and share the amazing photos you take during your stay! Food and Drink: Our Eco safari River Camp is fully equipped with cooking facilities, although relying on solar power means there are no oven or microwaves however there are gas burners, a wood pizza oven and braai areas available to cook delicious meals. The camp hands will be there to help with making fires and getting those coals ready to cook on and helping with the washing up. The self catering aspect means there is no pressure with mealtimes and you can keep to your own schedule. The camp does have a small amount of power to run fridges to keep food and drinks nice and cold and a freezer to store ice and any frozen meals. If you choose Bush Lodge for your stay there is the advantage of electricity and facilities including an oven and microwave are available for use. We have made life even easier for you as, if you send us a shopping list, we will get everything from the local shop and pack it into your camp so it is ready for when you arrive. To make things even more simple; follow our suggested shopping list so that nothing is forgotten! Worried about the Weather? Don’t be! All of our tents and rooms have fireplaces to heat them during the day and night. Hot water bottles are also available on request if it gets particularly chilly. The main areas of the camps have nice big fireplaces and also gas heaters if needed. If it rains there are fleece and waterproof ponchos available on request to keep you warm and dry on game drives. Bush Lodge rooms have air conditioning and heaters installed. River camp tents have sides that can be opened to let a breeze through if it gets a bit warm. Also the pool at Bush Lodge pool is heated so can be used all year round. Ready to Book? Email our reservations team [email protected], or call 046 648 1040 to make your booking today. Why wait to be able to travel abroad when you can have the holiday of a lifetime right on your doorstep? A Little Help with Shopping for your Self-Catering Stay Even though this is a self-catering stay, we understand that you might not always feel like cooking. Our fantastic executive chef has come up with a couple of homemade pre-prepared options that you can select and we will place them in your freezer in camp ready for you to take out when needed. These meals heat up perfectly in our pizza ovens or braai ovens available in camps.
