2010 Skyhoundz Canine Frisbee Championship Results

Sunday, July 11th, marked the 19th annual Canine Frisbee Championships on the Delaney Park Strip Soccer Field, with a total of 29 registered participants and their Frisbee loving .

Competition consisted of two 60-second mini-distance rounds. Of the 29 dogs who competed, 17 advanced to the second round. Points were awarded on the number of catches each did in 60- seconds. Higher points were scored for distance and mid-air catches.

In between rounds, the crowd was privy to a brief demonstration of by Alaska Dogs Gone Wild. Flyball matches teams of dogs together racing side by side over a 51’ foot long course. Each dog must run in relay fashion down the jumps, trigger a flyball box, releasing the ball, retrieve the ball, and return over the jumps. The next dog is released to run the course but can't cross the start/finish line until the previous dog has returned over all 4 jumps and reached the start/finish line. The first team to have all 4 dogs finish the course without error wins the heat. It was quite entertaining.

Competition for this event was open to dogs of all ages, abilities and breeds. Next years event date is tentatively set for Sunday, July 10, 2011, so there is plenty of time to get your dog ready and raring to go in 2011.
