Inside News

Celebration of completion of five years was done during the month. A get to gather of camp organisors was organised on 22nd May in the morning. They gave us a couple of useful suggestions. Ganeshpoojan was done in the afternoon. In the evening, family get to gather of all the staff with a cultural programme was organised. Staff members gave very nice performances. On 21st Saturday - group discussion was organised and staff was divided in five groups. Each group was given a couple of themes and after the deliberations, they presented their thoughts in front of all the staff members.

On 29th Sunday, a vision building exercise was organised with the help of Mrs. Elizabeth Kurian – CEO of Mission for Vision. We want to develop a roadmap for five years from now. All the key staff members took part enthusiastically. We are very thankful to Mrs. Elizabeth Kurian for taking trouble of coming over and conducting the exercise.

The temperature has remained high throughout the month. However, the performance against the May last year has gone up by almost 25%. It was vacation time and we could not arrange for the anaesthetist and so almost 10 paediatric cases are waiting.

Uka Tarsadiya Foundation, USA has donated Rs. 32.5 lacs for our optometry college. We are sincerely thankful to them for the support. Similarly, Lions Clubs International Foundation has released Rs. 36.5 lacs for strengthening our Diabetic Retinopathy project. Our sincere thanks to them also.

We have started doing fragmentation of Inj. Avastin under aseptic precautions as per the guideline given by Vitreoretina Society of India from this month.

Dediapada vision centre was inaugurated on 5th May at the hands of Swami Bodhmitranandaji. Regular OPD is started and the response is encouraging. Couple of surgical patients have also come and follow up is taking place at Dediapada saving time and money to the patients.

We have started conducting small camps to maintain the flow of patients. The response improved substantially after these camps have started in Umarpada and Mangrol blocks as we have workers in these areas and the CBR programme is ongoing.

Hospital Visitors Evaluation & Monitoring Shri Mahendrasinh Vashi – RTO inspector – a long time well wisher and father of Dr. Jagruti Jariwala visit- ed the hospital. He appreciated the work being done here. Dr. Uday & Mr. Pradeep had gone to Akhand Jyoti eye hospital, Mastichak in Bihar for a clinical evaluation on suggestion of Savitri Waney Foundation, Mum- bai.

Training and Conference Participation Our training activity in News Training from outside

Dr. Ruta Parekh from Surat has continued her phaco training. Dr. Sood, Punjab has completed SICS training Dr. Parth Joshi attended advanced phaco training at Haji Bachu Ali Eye Hospital, during the month. Dr. Punit Solanki, Hariyana has continued his SICS training in this second month. Dr. Jinkal Mumbai during the month. However, this was an individual activity. Shah from Modasa has joined one month SICS training this month.

A hands on training of CPR for nursing staff was organised using the newly purchased mannequin.

Hospital Inside News

We have purchased rotimaker machine for the kitchen. This will save time and manpower in the kitchen.

Blind children of our Vivekananda Pragnachakshu bhavan in News

A workshop for blind children was organised during the month. The number was less than expected – 18 BUT they enjoyed. They were taken for picnic to Ambach and bathing in the river was man- aged. Later they were taken to Galteshwar for another picnic. One of our blind girls is pursuing college and motivated the other younger children during the workshop. Hospital Statistical Data News
