Day 2: October 18, 2019 - Rome: Arrive at Rome airport. After clearing customs, meet your driver and your local tour guide and transfer to your centrally located hotel in Rome. Check in with some time at leisure and a little rest. Romans say the “Rome wasn’t built in a day”, nor can Rome be seen in a day. One could live in the Eternal City for years and still not see everything. It’s hard to say what you’ll find most breathtaking: Etruscan tombs, Republican meeting rooms, imperial temples, early Christian Churches, medieval bell towers, Basilicas or Renaissance palaces. Stop at a “trattoria” in Trastevere to try the local cuisine, sit outside of a café on elegant or maybe shop in fashionable Via Condotti or, for a wonderful range of art, antiques and antiquities shops, visit Via Margutta. We will have our welcome aperitif and dinner tonight at local restaurant (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 3: October 19, 2019 - Rome: Enjoy breakfast at the Hotel. Later, we depart for a guided tour to discover the splendor of the classic Roman Empire. Your experienced local guide will introduce to the history of Imperial Rome while we walk along . We will visit not only the Roman Forum, the most important archaeological area in the city and once the center of the public life but also the Colosseum, the most famous monument of ancient Rome and an impressive testament to her past greatness. After lunch at local Roman Trattoria we reach the , Rome’s largest venue for chariot races and ludi, public games connected to the Roman religious festivals. From here we will enjoy the amazing view of the . Next, on to the which holds many surprises and treasures that often remain hidden to hasty visitors. We will show you the beauty of this pleasant hill and the legends preserved inside its corners. We will visit the romantic Garden of Oranges, a small garden adorned with scented orange trees offering a breathtaking view of Rome. Next, we continue to the Church and St Alexis which host a mix of history, art, religion and legends. See an unexpected view from the “Buco di Roma” (Rome hole), where you will peer through the keyhole of a door and discover an amazing vista. Our visit continues with a walk through one of the largest and best preserved ancient thermal complexes, the Bath of Caracalla, built in the southern part of the city under initiative of Caracalla. You will see in sequence the calidarium, tepidarium, frigidarium and natatio where the Romans enjoyed ancient rites of purifications and well-being. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 4: October 20, 2019 - Rome: Hidden secrets of the historical center: Today we visit the at the bottom of the . The imposing 135 step staircase is one of the most famous squares in Rome. In the middle of the square is the dating back to the beginning of the baroque period, sculptured by Pietro Bernini and his son, the more famous GianLorenzo Bernini. We visit the Caffè Greco, an historical landmark café which opened in 1760 on Via dei Condotti. It is the oldest bar in Rome and within Italy only Caffè Florian Venice is older. Today Caffè Greco remains heaven for writers, politicians, artisans and notable people. We proceed to Fondazione Sorelle Fontana and the atelier museum Sorelle Fontana, the famous Italian fashion house, specialized in production of high-fashion couture. In the 50’s the brand gradually piqued the interest of international jet set and they dressed many celebrities and also several heads of state, notably Elisabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly, Jacqueline Kennedy, as well as many others. Later we reach Fontna di Trevi the largest baroque in the city one of the most famous fountain in the world. The fountain has appeared in several notable films, including Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita. The fountain marks the terminal point of the modern Aqua Vergine, the revived , one of the aqueducts that supplied water to ancient Rome. The Trevi district hosts also a lesser known archeological gem, also linked to the element of the water, the Vicus Caprarius; in this underground site, you will discover the structure of a Domus (house hold) from the Empire period, the Castellum aquae (village water) of the massive Vergine Aqueduct. It is still possible to hear the sound of water flowing and see some impressive Roman remains. In a journey back through time, you will be able to reach out and touch the millenarian stratification of Rome. We will then enjoy lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, we proceed to the Archaeological Area, now in Rome. Stadium of Domitian is “the earliest example of a masonry athletics stadium built in Rome and has been reopened to the public after years of restoration work. In the splendid setting of one of the world’s most popular squares, Piazza Navona is an archaeological area in the heart of the city, saved from being cemented over. In addition to the remains of the Stadium, visitors can learn about the history of sport and the practice of sports in ancient times, as well as customs and traditions, in a blend of entertainment and competition. We proceed then to visit the Biblioteca Angelica, behind the popular Piazza Navona. This is a hidden place in Rome where the smell of the past still reigns and the noisy strides of history become gentle and slow. One of the most ancient public libraries in the whole of Europe and the earliest to publicly open in Rome at the beginning of the 17th century, the Biblioteca Angelica still survives today and it’s one of the most renowned institutions conserving almost intact its huge bequest of its historic collections. Evening at leisure (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 5: October 21, 2019 - Rome: Vatican Museums & Roman Identity: After breakfast at Hotel we depart for guided tours of the Vatican Museums, and St. Peter’s Church. The Vatican Museums and their immense wealth of art, resulting from centuries of papal collections, offer an extraordinary experience. Amongst others, see the great masterpieces of Michelangelo, “The Last Judgement” in the Sistine Chapel. End the tour visiting St. Peter’s Basilica to admire the art treasures of the largest Roman Catholic Church in the world including Michelangelo’s Pietà. Enjoy typical Roman lunch at local Trattoria. After lunch at local restaurant our next stop is Tiberina Island, the boat-shaped island on the river . This island was once the location of an ancient temple to Aesculapius, the Greek god of medicine and healing. It has been connected with bridges to both sides of the river since antiquity. Being an ancient temple first and a hospital now, it has always been associated with medicine and healing. We continue to Trastevere a charming medieval neighborhood full of charm and history. Thanks to its narrow-cobbled streets lined by medieval houses, it has managed to preserve a strong Roman identity. Walking through the colorful and animated alleys of Trastevere you will reach the beautiful Piazza Santa Maria in the heart of the Trastevere district and home to the namesake Basilic. This is one of the oldest , famous for its large, important mosaics from the 13th century. The Apotecary of Santa Maria della Scala , the old pharmacy, is a former laboratory unchanged for over three centuries. It was initially for exclusive use of the Carmelite monks, but then became a public and papal pharmacy. As you visit the Apotecary, it seems that time has stopped: there are still decoctions and other preparations; participants can also manipulate potions and discover what is hidden in the underground of the building. Evening at leisure (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 6: October 22, 2019 - Rome: Roman Nobility: After breakfast we visit Borghese Gallery, a villa full of delights.
