94.7 WCSX Stone Soup Project™ Start Up Event at Vinsetta Garage

Detroit, , August 13, 2014 – It’s been months in the making and 94.7 WCSX is ready to fire up this year’s Stone Soup Project, a 1970 Pontiac Firebird, at Vinsetta Garage in Berkley at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2014.

This year’s Stone Soup Project has a special story behind it. Gilbert Bunch of Livonia loved the Stone Soup Project and bought tickets for the raffle every year. His own pride and joy was a 1970 Firebird that he was working on in his garage. Gilbert passed away in December of a heart attack, and his family reached out to WCSX to offer up the car for this year’s project. Morning Show Co-Host, Jim O’Brien said, “It will be an honor to turn this car into an incredible show car, while raising money for Holy Cross Children’s Services in Detroit.”

That is exactly what they did. Great companies like Advance Auto Parts, Discount Tire, BASF, R-M paint, Ice Nine Group, D&S Engine, Monihan’s Towing and the many volunteers who donate their time to the project make a classc one-of-a-kind classic car!

On Thursday, August 14, 2014, Trudi & Jim from Mornings on 94.7 WCSX, will broadcast live from Vinsetta Garage from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. brought to you by DMC Heart Hospital. At 9:00 a.m. the car’s engine will start for the first time. Valerie Bunch, the widow of Gilbert Bunch, whose dream was to one day rebuild the Firebird, will be turning the key. Listeners will be encouraged to stop by to feel the rumble of the beautiful one-of-a-kind 1970 Firebird. Vinsetta Garage will be serving coffee and breakfast grub.

“This 1970 Firebird T/A is proof of what we do in Detroit,” said Jim O’Brien from Classic Rock Mornings on WCSX. “Custom built, completely restored 400 stroker engine. One- of-a-kind interior with original stitch pattern in custom leather. The best of what the motor city is all about.“

Holy Cross Children’s Services will benefit from the proceeds of the Stone Soup Project™ and will be on-site selling raffle tickets at Vinsetta Garage Thursday, August 14 from 6 a.m. – 3 p.m. Raffle tickets are $10 each. You can also purchase them on-line at www.WCSX.com.
