THREE HARD LAPS: QUICK HITS FROM TUESDAY

* Johnny Gaudreau recorded a career-high six points as the Flames tallied nine goals for the second time in 2018-19.

* Evgeni Malkin and Alex Ovechkin each found the score sheet Tuesday to reach the 1,000- and 1,200- milestone, respectively.

* Canadiens Carey Price earned his 315th career victory to eclipse for the most regular- wins in franchise history.

GAUDREAU NETS SIX POINTS AS FLAMES ERUPT FOR NINE GOALS Johnny Gaudreau (3-3—6) posted a career-high six points while netting his fifth career hat trick to power the Flames (43-20-7, 93 points) to their second nine- outing of the season (also Dec. 4 at CBJ). Gaudreau became the 11th player in Flames franchise history to collect six points in a regular-season game and first since Al MacInnis on March 20, 1994 (1-5—6).

* Gaudreau (33-57—90 in 70 GP), who established career highs in goals and points, became the first player to record six points in a game since Jamie Benn on Nov. 14, 2013 at CGY (1- 5—6). Additionally, Calgary’s leading scorer in each of the last three seasons is just the seventh player in franchise history to hit the 90-point mark in 70 or fewer team games.

* After capturing the team’s first 90-point performance since in 2007-08 (50-48— 98), Gaudreau is on pace to become the sixth player in franchise history to record at least 105 points in a season and first since in 1988-89 (51-59—110).

* The Flames, who benefited from six third-period goals, are just the fifth team in the last 20 years to record two nine-goal outings in a single season, joining the Maple Leafs (1998-99, 2005-06 and 2006-07), Senators (1998-99), Hurricanes (2008-09) and Blues (2010-11).

MALKIN’S 1,000TH POINT PROPELS PENGUINS PAST CAPITALS. . . Evgeni Malkin (0-2—2) collected an assist on ’s eventual game-winning goal to become the 88th player in League history and the fifth active NHL skater to reach the 1,000- point milestone, joining (411-1058—1469), (444-762—1206), Alex Ovechkin (653-547—1200) and (549-615—1164).

* Malkin, who became the fifth Russian-born player in NHL history to reach the 1,000-point milestone, joined fellow countryman Ovechkin as the second player from the 2004 NHL Draft to reach the benchmark. Since the first NHL Draft in 1963, only three other sets of players have each recorded at least 1,000 points after being drafted first and second overall in the same year. The others: and Marcel Dionne (1971), Pierre and (1987) and Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau (1997)

* The Penguins joined the Red Wings as the only franchises to have four players record 1,000 points entirely with their franchise. (786-1023—1809), (692- 1063—1755), Alex Delvecchio (456-825—1281) and Nicklas Lidstrom (264-878—1142) all reached the mark in a Detroit uniform.

WHILE OVECHKIN REACHES 1,200-POINT MILESTONE Alex Ovechkin (0-1—1) became the 49th player in NHL history to reach the 1,200-point milestone and the second this year, joining longtime rival Sidney Crosby (444-762—1,206). He joined the aforementioned Crosby and Joe Thornton (411-1,058—1,469) as the only active NHL players to reach the benchmark.

* En route to his 1,200th point, the seven-time Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy has tallied 46 goals this season and 653 in his career. (656) is the only player in NHL history to register more tallies at the time of the reaching the benchmark.

PRICE BECOMES WINNINGEST GOALTENDER IN CANADIENS HISTORY Carey Price made 20 saves to record his 315th career regular-season win (all w/ MTL) and surpass Jacques Plante (314) for the most in Canadiens franchise history. Montreal, which improved to 9-0-0 in its last nine contests against Detroit dating to April 8, 2017 (DET: 0-8-1), swept the season series for the second time in as many seasons.

* Price became the ninth active NHL goaltender to sit atop his current franchise's all-time regular-season wins list and the third to do so with an team, joining (449 W w/ NYR) and (262 W w/ BOS).

SHARKS SCORE LATE AS THORNTON CLIMBS ALL-TIME LIST scored the game-winning goal with five seconds remaining in the final frame to help the Sharks (43-19-8, 94 points) extend the League’s longest active win streak to six games.

* Pavelski recorded San Jose’s third goal within the final five seconds of regulation (excluding empty-net goals). The Sharks are the 17th team in NHL history and second this season (also CHI w/ 3) to score at least three such goals in a single season. Only one team in the last 22 years has registered more than three markers in the final five seconds of regulation: the Hurricanes (4 in 2015-16).

* Joe Thornton collected two assists to boost his career totals to 411-1058—1469 and pass Stan Mikita (541-926—1,467 in 1,396 GP) for sole possession of 14th on the League’s all-time list.

BISHOP RECORDS THIRD STRAIGHT Ben Bishop turned aside all 35 shots he faced to record his third shutout in as many appearances and help the Stars (36-28-5, 77 points) move within two points of the Blues (36- 26-7, 79 points) for third place in the Central Division standings.

* Bishop became the third goaltender in Stars/North Stars franchise history to record in three consecutive appearances joining Cesare Maniago (Dec. 10-21, 1967) and (Nov. 15-29, 2000).

* Bishop extended his personal shutout streak to 204:20, besting the League’s previous season- high set by Golden Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury (200:41 from Feb. 26 - March 6). Meanwhile, Belfour posted the longest such run Stars/North Stars franchise history from Nov. 15-29, 2000 (219:26).

SNEAK PEEK AT WEDNESDAY’S ACTION

KANE, McDAVID SET THEIR SIGHTS ON 100TH POINT Blackhawks forward (41-57—98 in 68 GP) and Oilers Connor McDavid (34-64—98 in 65 GP) aim to become the second and third players in 2018-19 to reach the 100- point mark, joining Lightning forward (33-78—111 in 70 GP).

* The last campaign to feature three or more 100-point scorers through this point in the season was 1995-96, when (56-79—135 in 58 GP), Jaromir Jagr (56-75—131 in 68 GP), (26-76—102 in 69 GP) and (24-78—102 in 63 GP) all reached the century mark.

* Multiple players have hit the 100-point mark on the same day only twice in the last 22 years (since 1996-97): Daniel Alfredsson (OTT) and (CAR) did so on April 15, 2006, while (OTT) and Martin St. Louis (TBL) combined for the feat on March 31, 2007.
