ABB’s upgraded auxiliary enabling device provides protection for additional personnel in work envelope

Device features E-Stop button and protective holster when not in use

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (July 14, 2009) – ABB Robotics, a leading supplier of industrial , has improved an auxiliary enabling device for the safety of additional personnel in the work envelope. The device is carried by non-primary robot interface personnel, and when released the robot’s motion stops immediately. The improvements include an E-Stop button on the device handle and a holster that securely houses the device when not in use. The device is fully ANS/RIA safety compliant,

The auxiliary enabling device features high quality, flexible cabling that connects to the cabinet via the standard teach pendant connector. The 3-position hand-held switch allows the robot motors to be on during use. All electrical circuits are dual channel and monitored by the robot controller. There are two models available, one for use with the newer IRC 5 controller and one for the older S4C controller.
