Warwickshire Cricket Board has recently taken the decision to move from 6 districts to 4. This exciting new transition is to improve the quality and stand- ard of cricket at youth level throughout the county. By doing this we are cre- ating a more competitive environment for players to accelerate onto the Development of Excellence performance ladder creating a closer gap be- tween District and DOE cricket.

Our plans to professionalise district cricket is to achieve:

Greater concentration of playing talent Greater identification for players with their district / nearest town or city A higher standard of coaches Competition for coaches working with performance players More support and training for district coaches with a view to progress Rationalisation of resources

District cricket will consist of the following four teams at Under 11s, 13s and 15s - Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull and Warwick. These four dis- trict teams will train throughout the winter and will play in a Whitsun and summer festival. WCB will also be running the current under 9s dis- trict in all four districts and the possibility of an under 17s district week in the summer.
