Weekly Weather Report of for the week ending on 18.08.2021

Synoptic Feature: The “Monsoon Trough” passed through Amritsar, Patiala, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Patna, Cooch Behar and thence NE-wards to Arunachal Pradesh on 12th.It persisted and its western part ran closed to the foothills of the and eastern part passed through Gorakhpur, Muzzafarpur, Shanti Niketan, Haldia and thence SE-wards to NE-Bay of Bengal on 13th. It ran close to the foothills of Himalaya on 14th. The western end of the Monsoon Trough ran along the foothills of Himalayas and its eastern end passed through Gorakhpur, Gaya, Jamshedpur, Balasore and thence SE-wards to central Bay of Bengal on 15th. The western end of the Monsoon Trough ran along the foothills of Himalayas and its eastern end passed through Hardoi, Patna, Jamshedpur, Paradip and thence southeastwards to EC Bay of Bengal on 16th. It passed through Ferozepur, Hissar, Delhi, Hardoi, Varanasi, Dehri, Ranchi, Keonjhagarh, centre of LOPAR over coastal Odisha and adjoining NW-Bay of Bengal and thence southeastwards to EC Bay of Bengal on 17th. It passed through Ferozepur, Narnaul, Orai, Siddhi, Jamshedpur, Digha and thence ESE-wards to NE-Bay of Bengal on 18th. A ‘CYCIR’ lay over WC-Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh coast between 3.1 km & 5.8 km amsl tilted southwards with height on 13th. It persisted on 14th and on 15th, it was seen over WC Bay of Bengal off south Odisha coast between 3.1 km & 7.6 km amsl tilted SW-wards with height on 15th. It persisted on 16th. Under its influence, a LOPAR formed over NW and adjoining WC-Bay of Bengal off Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh Coast on 16th evening. The ‘ LOPAR ‘persisted and lay over coastal Odisha and adjoining NW-Bay of Bengal on 17th and the associated ‘CYCIR’ extended up to 7.6 km amsl tilted SW wards with height. The ‘LOPAR’ became less marked on 18th. However, the ‘CYCIR’ persisted and was seen over Jharkhand and N’Hood extending up to 1.5 km amsl on 18th. A ‘CYCIR’ lay over interior Odisha and N’Hood extended up to 1.5 km amsl on 13th.It persisted and lay over North Chattisgarh and N’Hood to Telangana up to 1.5 km amsl on 14th.It became less marked on 15th. The last week ‘CYCIR” persisted extended up to 3.1 km amsl on 12th. It persisted and lay over North Bihar and adjoining East Uttar Pradesh extended up to 3.1 km amsl on 13th.It became less marked on 14th.

Rainfall distribution and weather activity: 12.08.2021 to 18.08.2021: Available data indicate that light to moderate rain occurred at most places over Arunachal Pradesh with isolated heavy falls over Arunachal Pradesh on 12th; monsoon activity was active over Arunachal Pradesh and light to moderate rain occurred at most places over Arunachal Pradesh with isolated heavy falls over Arunachal Pradesh, on 13th; monsoon activity was active over Arunachal Pradesh and light to moderate rain occurred at most places over Arunachal Pradesh, with isolated heavy falls over Arunachal Pradesh on 14th; light to moderate rain occurred at most places over Arunachal Pradesh with isolated heavy falls over Arunachal Pradesh and southwest monsoon was active over Arunachal Pradesh on 15th; light to moderate rain occurred at many places over Arunachal Pradesh with isolated heavy falls over Arunachal Pradesh on 16th; light to moderate rain occurred at many places over Arunachal Pradesh, on 17th; light to moderate rain occurred at most places over Arunachal Pradesh with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over Arunachal Pradesh on 18th August 2021.
