ABOUT WESTCHESTER COUNTRY CLUB Three-time U.S. Amateur champion Walter J. Travis laid out the two 18-hole golf courses at Westchester Country Club, just 30 miles outside New York City, that opened in 1922. The courses were built by the Philadelphia-based architectural firm of Toomey and Flynn who built the modern course at Shinnecock Hills toward the end of the same decade. The club joined the USGA on Jan. 13, 1922, several months before the courses opened for play that summer. The West Course has hosted many memorable golf events over its history. Beginning with the 1923 U.S. Women’s Amateur, the course went on to host 44 PGA Tour events. The Thunderbird Classic came to Westchester in 1963, with Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus winning two of the first three years.

    A Kentucky Golf Foundation Program Justin starting playing golf at the age of two and was competing in tournaments by the age of eight, winning his first tournament that June in the 12 and under division. Justin has won 125 individual events on the local, national, and international stage, and additionally has been a part of many victorious teams’ squads. One of the top players in the Polo Junior rankings and a Polo All American in 2010, Justin went to high school at St. Xavier High School in Louisville, winning the state high school championship both individually and twice as a team. He was named Mr. Golf in Kentucky in 2009. In 2010, Justin won the Terra Cotta Invitational, with a final round 66, his first major amateur win. That summer he was runner-up at the US Junior Amateur and in 2011, Justin won the International Junior Byron Nelson Award. Justin continued his golf at the University of Alabama where he won the first college event he played in, The Carpet Classic, firing a 30 on his final nine. In addition to winning the prestigious Jones Cup Invitational, one of the top prizes in amateur golf, Justin won six events as an individual. As a freshman, Justin won the Haskins Award and the Jack Nicklaus Award, as the national NCAA Division 1 player of the year, and the Phil Mickelson Award as the freshman player of the year. A SEC Champion as an individual and twice a member of the Alabama team in 2012 & 2013, Justin was also named SEC Player of the Year in 2012.

Boundary Description The Grand Court of the former John Wanamaker Store at 1301-25 Chestnut Street is a seven- story open interior volume measuring approximately 122 feet long by 66 feet wide and 150 feet high. The clear-span area is enclosed by a ground-floor perimeter arcade and upper-floor colonnade walls rising the full height of the space. The boundaries of this nomination include the entire Grand Court volume from floor to ceiling; the inner, outer, and intrados surfaces of the ground-floor arcade; the inward and lateral-facing surfaces of the upper-floor columns and colonnade walls; the architectural elements that span between and in plane with these columns; and all components of the Wanamaker Organ visible from within the Court, including the organ console located in the middle bay of the east second-floor gallery. These boundaries exclude the outer faces of the upper-floor colonnade walls and those portions of the Wanamaker Organ that are not visible from within the Court. This defined Grand Court area satisfies the definition of a public interior eligible for historic designation as set forth in the Philadelphia Historic Preservation Ordinance and defined in the Philadelphia Zoning Code, §14-203 (252) as “an interior portion of a building or structure that is, or was designed to be, customarily open or accessible to the public, including by invitation,” and which retains “a substantial portion of the features reflecting design for public use.” The visible Wanamaker Organ components satisfy the definition of fixtures of a public interior space as set forth in the Philadelphia Historical Commission Rules and Regulations 2.10.
