The Castle of Roncade 40 min. from Lido di Jesolo

The Castle of Roncade is one of the unique examples of living Renaissance architecture in Northern Italy, anchoring the town of Roncade, in the Veneto countryside between Treviso and Venice. The Giustinian family, original owners of the Castello, were important figures in the history of Venice. The Castello sits on the ruins of a Tenth Century castle built by Emperor Ottone II.

Beyond the gate, the grounds open into a beautiful courtyard dominated by four huge cedar of Lebanon and Magnolia trees, which have stood for centuries. The surrounding wall is anchored by fourlarge towers, three of which have been restored as living quarters, offering comfortable lodging for the guests of the Castle. The current owners, the Baron Ciani Bassetti family, have remained closely tied to the historical traditions of the area, by producing prestigious wines (“I vini dell’Arnasa”), thanks to the many vineyards, that surround the entire Castle, and the fascinating cellars, where wine tastings are usually held.
