The streets of Copenhagen is a vibrant city with many different types of streets. Strøget is one of Europe’s longest pedestrian streets with businesses, shops and living areas in the center of the old city. Strøget extends nearly three‐quarters of a mile. Copenhagen is also a very clean city that is filled with bicycles, promoted by its local government, and due in part to its flat terrain. Eight hundred and fifty people live in Christiania. The area came into being by in a military area in 1971. Cannabis trade was tolerated at one point but has conflicted with laws. Our guide said that drugs have been an issue, but Christiania’s fervor for being autonomous had made it Copenhagen’s social experiment that includes political and social issues. It has its own flag and currency.
