Presents QUENTIN TARANTINO’S DEATH PROOF Only at the Grindhouse Final Production Notes as of 5/15/07 International Press Contacts: PREMIER PR (CANNES FILM FESTIVAL) THE WEINSTEIN COMPANY Matthew Sanders / Emma Robinson Jill DiRaffaele Villa Ste Hélène 5700 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 600 45, Bd d’Alsace Los Angeles, CA 90036 06400 Cannes Tel: 323 207 3092 Tel: +33 493 99 03 02 [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] From the longtime collaborators (FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, FOUR ROOMS, SIN CITY), two of the most renowned filmmakers this summer present two original, complete grindhouse films packed to the gills with guns and guts. Quentin Tarantino’s DEATH PROOF is a white knuckle ride behind the wheel of a psycho serial killer’s roving, revving, racing death machine. Robert Rodriguez’s PLANET TERROR is a heart-pounding trip to a town ravaged by a mysterious plague. Inspired by the unique distribution of independent horror classics of the sixties and seventies, these are two shockingly bold features replete with missing reels and plenty of exploitative mayhem. The impetus for grindhouse films began in the US during a time before the multiplex and state-of- the-art home theaters ruled the movie-going experience. The origins of the term “Grindhouse” are fuzzy: some cite the types of films shown (as in “Bump-and-Grind”) in run down former movie palaces; others point to a method of presentation -- movies were “grinded out” in ancient projectors one after another. Frequently, the movies were grouped by exploitation subgenre. Splatter, slasher, sexploitation, blaxploitation, cannibal and mondo movies would be grouped together and shown with graphic trailers.

About INMATE#1: THE RISE OF DANNY TREJO: With nearly 400 — and counting! — film and television credits since 1985, Danny Trejo is one of the most prolific and recognizable actors around. But his remarkable ascent to beloved Hollywood hero notorious for tough guy roles in Heat, Breaking Bad, and the Machete series was as hard- earned as it was unexpected. In this moving, funny, and revealing portrait, Trejo candidly traces his own sensational out-of-the-ashes journey from troubled kid growing up in Pacoima, CA, to teenage drug addict and San Quentin prison inmate, to ubiquitous film star, restauranteur, philanthropist, and role model. With help from his most ardent champions, including his children, friends, and famous colleagues (Robert Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, and Michelle Rodriguez), Brett Harvey’s affecting profile is as raw and intimate as it is a buoyant celebration of an exceptional California Film Institute, 1001 Lootens Place, Ste.

  • 275. – Part One
    275. – PART ONE 275. Clifford (1994) Okay, here’s the deal: I don’t know you, you don’t know me, but if you are anywhere near a television right now I need you to stop whatever it is that you’re doing and go watch “Clifford” on HBO Max. This is another film that has a 10% score on Rotten Tomatoes which just leads me to believe that all of the critics who were popular in the nineties didn’t have a single shred of humor in any of their non-existent funny bones. I loved this movie when I was seven, and I love it even more when I’m thirty-three. It’s genius. Martin Short (who at the time was forty-four) plays a ten-year-old hyperactive nightmare child from hell. I mean it, this kid might actually be the devil. He is straight up evil, conniving, manipulative and all-told probably causes no less than ten million dollars-worth of property damage. And, again, the plot is so simple – he just wants to go to Dinosaur World. There are so many comedy films with such complicated plots and motivations for their characters, but the simplistic genius of “Clifford” is just this – all this kid wants on the entire planet is to go to Dinosaur World. That’s it. The movie starts with him and his parents on an plane to Hawaii for a business trip, and Clifford knows that Dinosaur Land is in Los Angeles, therefore he causes so much of a ruckus that the plane has to make an emergency landing.

  • Chon A. Noriega: Not So Fast, Charlie Sheen
Chon A. Noriega: Not So Fast, Charlie Sheen http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chon-a-noriega/not-so-fast-charlie-shee... June 7, 2013 Posted: 06/07/2013 4:08 pm Like Chon Noriega and 80 others like this. In the Robert Rodriguez action sequel Machete Kills opening in September, Hollywood bad boy Charlie Sheen has reverted to his original "Hispanic" name in the credits: Carlos Estevez. Sorry Charlie, but there are rules here. Let me turn your attention to the Ethnic Security, Opportunity, and Identity Modernization (ESOIM, or "Eso I Am") Act of 2013, which is currently working its way through the Legislative Organization of Latinos (LOL). This is the toughest ethnic identity enforcement measure in U.S. history. It is tough but humane in addressing the nearly 25% of the entertainment industry that works under a false Anglo identity and lives in de facto amnesty. Like the similarly named legislation now being considered in Washington, D.C., the ESOIM of LOL has a series of stringent rules for Hispanics who assumed Anglicized names in order to achieve professional success but who now want to return to their original identity as part of a population with $1.2 trillion in purchasing power, status as a decisive voting bloc, and a lot of accents and z's in their names. So, Charlie, here are the conditions that must be met before you can begin to use "Carlos Estevez": 1. The Department of Latino Security must achieve "effective control" of the high-risk Hollywood areas--meaning at least 90% of celebrities attempting to return to a Hispanic given and surname must be apprehended or turned back.
