    December 28, 2020 As of yesterday's report, Greenwood County had 77 additional confirmed cases in the county for a total of 3,892 cases confirmed since 21 March. Remember this is only those which have been confirmed and is for those who were tested a minimum of two days ago. This means there are others who have been tested and are in quarantine awaiting results. Additionally, an individual can be asymptomatic, (contagious but shows no symptoms), and may choose not to be tested. The first 3,311 cases in Greenwood County were reported over 15 days ago, so there are 3,311 individuals who should have recovered from the virus. Additionally, Greenwood County has had 84 confirmed deaths due to the virus. This brings Greenwood County's remaining estimated total of active confirmed cases to 498. DHEC does not track recovered individuals by county, so this number is an estimate based on the following: Most individuals recover from the virus within this time frame. From 12 December until 25 December (2 weeks), Greenwood has had 578 confirmed cases out of a population of 70,811. This equates to an incident rate of 816.3 per 100,000 individuals which is rated as high by SCDHEC. (Low = 50 or less; Medium = 51 - 200; High = 201 or more) SCDHEC reported an additional 4,370 new confirmed cases in the state for a total of 273,659.     Colorado College’s Report on Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act Report #6 – December 17, 2020 Introduction On March 27, 2020, the President of the United States signed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, also known as the CARES Act (H.R. 748, Public Law 116-136), which provides emergency relief funds to organizations and individuals affected by the coronavirus pandemic. (Digital version available.) The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF), found in Section 18004 of the CARES Act, provides funding to institutions of higher education “to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus.” Institutions of higher education were allocated funding for two purposes: “to defray eXpenses … incurred by institutions of higher education” and “for grants to students for any component of the student’s cost of attendance.” This report details Colorado College’s (CC) use of funding from its first HEERF award, no less than fifty percent of the funds in the form of Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. Acknowledgement of Funding and Certification Colorado College acknowledges signing the Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students on April 10, 2020 and submitting it via grants.gov on April 11, 2020. We received notification of funding from the U.S. Department of Education on May 4, 2020. Colorado College’s award period runs from April 20, 2020 – April 19, 2021. Total Award Colorado College will receive a total allocation of $1,151,391 under the HEERF. In accordance with the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students, at least $575,696 (50%) will be provided directly to students impacted by campus disruptions due to the coronavirus.
