He started playing the trumpet when he was nine. He had a number of teachers, interestingly enough, none of whom was a trumpeter: Zilih and Kočmar were horn play- ers, and Tokodi a trombonist. In spite of this, he won first prizes in competitions in former Yugoslavia as a student of music school in Subotica. In 1987 he went to the Academy of Music in Ljubljana with the legendary professor Anton Grčar, who revealed to him the secrets of trumpet-playing. He graduated in 1992 and finished post-graduate studies in the class of the same Professor in 1994. He perfected his talents in seminars in Greiskirchen with Pierre Thibaud and in Budapest with Gyergy Geiger. He is the winner of the International Competition of Young Artists in Zagreb (1988). As a student he won the Prešern Award. Starting from 1988 he is a full member of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra.
