CHICAGO, IL (OCTOBER 20, 2015)- Another dominant pitching performance has the Mets one win away from their first trip to the World Series in fifteen years after beating the ! 5-2 in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series.! Despite surrendering two solo home runs, Jacob deGrom extended the dominance of the Mets’ pitching staff hurling seven stellar innings and held the Cubs to four hits while striking out seven. Aside from the homers, the Cubs had few scoring opportunities going 0-3 with runners in !scoring position. ! The Mets did not have much more success in scoring chances, so it took Yoenis Cespedes scoring the game winning run for New York as Michael Conforto reached first base on a !dropped third strike with two outs in the sixth inning against Chicago Trevor Cahill. ! The offense the Mets received came from the usual sources as Daniel Murphy homered in the third inning for the fifth consecutive post-season game tying a franchise record. Cespedes !added 3 hits and 2 RBI to his game winning run.! For Chicago to avoid elimination, the offense will have to rebound form another sluggish performance. The Cubs managed just five hits for the third straight NLCS game and have !produced only five runs in the entire series. ! That task will not be any easier in Wednesday’s game four against Met’s rookie sensation Steven Matz (4-0, 2.27)while Cubs will counter with veteran right hander Jason Hammel (10-7, 3.74). Game four of the National League Championship Series is Wednesday at 7pm Central from .
