Wednesday, October 31, 2018 | Hoag Performance Center | Costa Mesa, Calif. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS HEAD COACH ANTHONY LYNN Opening Statement: “Good afternoon. I tell you, watching [Seahawks Head] Coach [Pete] Carroll, I've known him for a long time. His whole coaching staff, I've either played with or played for. It's a really good coaching staff. Right now, they are doing a heck of a job. I think they are the hottest team in the NFL right now. They have won four out of last five. They are doing it collectively in all three phases — and offensively, they are rushing the ball better than anybody the last five weeks and more rush attempts, that's kind of their formula. Defensively, they are sixth in the league and No. 2 in takeaways. That's something I know he emphasizes a lot. Special teams-wise, they have one of the best returners in the game. He was an All-Pro the last three years. I'm excited to go over there and play them at their place. It's going to be a heck of a challenge for us, our coaching staff and our players, but this is what we need right now. We think we're getting better as a football team and this is going to be one hell of a test.” On DE Joey Bosa: “Joey is going to do some things on the side, but he won't be a part of any team activities today, no.” On the Seattle running game: “Well, you know, their offensive line is powerful.

  • Opportunity on the Road to Success by Logan Underwood
Opportunity on the Road to Success By Logan Underwood In the sea of society, many drift under the influence of powerful undercurrents of reality. People are shaped by the colour of our skin, the places we grew up, and the wealth of our parents. These factors have a profound impact on the direction in which people travel in their lives. The currents that control our lives are powerful because they pull the strings that define our paths. They change the scenery and the obstacles by putting some individuals on a pedestal while putting others on a much more challenging journey. Societal norms of nepotism and connections disproportionally place minorities at a disadvantage from their white colleagues as they are promoted. In 2003 the National Football League (NFL) instituted the Rooney Rule, which required one minority to be interviewed during the head coach hiring process (Carroll, 2018). The rule was put in action to make the number of minority coaches more representative of a sport that's players were 69.0% African American (Lapchick, 2019). As the most recent season coaching hiring season concluded, it became clear that the number of minority coaches with jobs would decrease significantly. Figure 1 (Payne, 2019) In the 2020 season, it will be the second season that 12.5% of coaches will be of colour. It is the lowest two-season stretch since the Rooney Rule was adopted in two thousand three (Lapchick, 2019). The 2019 season was important in determining the schematic direction of the league's coaches. Coaches Marvin Lewis, Todd Bowles, Steven Wilks, and Vance Joseph, who were all African American, were fired.

  • Denver Broncos: Top 5 Head Coaching Candidates
Denver Broncos: Top 5 Head Coaching Candidates Author : Sean Naylor When it comes to head coaching openings, there are few that as attractive as the Denver Broncos. With the surprise retirement of previous Head Coach Gary Kubiak, one of the most prestigious jobs in the league opened up. Who is right for this job? Here we will talk a look at the top 5 candidates for the opening in Denver. These will be ranked from bottom to top. 5. Matt Patricia Patricia is a hot name going around the league. The work that he puts into the New England Patriots defense is nothing short of commending. He epitomizes Bill Belichick to a tee. He is always prepared for his opponent and is very good at making in-game adjustments. He can even make these at a critical juncture. However, the Denver Broncos need someone who is offensive minded. Someone that can come in and groom 1 / 3 Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch to their system and let the defensive minds do their thing. Patricia is a strong candidate but is not a good fit for Denver. 4. Anthony Lynn. Lynn is a former assistant coach with the Buffalo Bills. He was the one-game interim head coach after they relieved Rex Ryan of his duties. Lynn has a lot of respect around the league and is a highly sought-after head coach. He has a strong offensive mind and would be great for a young QB such as Siemian. If the Broncos do pursue Lynn I could see him keeping a lot of the current coaches that were on the staff.

When a player has a "K" in his R-column, he can never be used for kicking or punting.
