PJSC Newsletter No. 2 There has been quite a lot happening since we sent out the newsletter so we thought that we would take advantage of the opportunity presented by us sending out your membership card(s) and standing order(s) to give you an update. It would help our administration enormously if you would arrange to let your bank have the enclosed standing order form(s) in good time for the payment of the next annual subscription – in fact there is no time like the present! We have been in touch with BBC Countryfile and asked if they would be interested in doing a follow up to the item they did 4 years ago. We got a hopeful response and the matter has been approached to the research team. Similarly, as the result of maintaining contact with the producer of the 2 BBC Inside Out programmes and the “Wainwright’s Long Walk” programme we have been introduced to the producer of the “One Show” and their development team will look into doing a feature. More on the publicity theme, Peter Burgess has introduced us to Andrew White, founder of Nova Productions, who produce walking videos and podcasts under the name of “Walks around Britain” and it is hoped that our president will record a podcast about the Pennine Journey shortly. Our PJ-in-a-Day event continues to gather support. Charities including Hospice at Home, the Yorkshire Dales Society, Cumbria Wildlife Trust, and Leukaemia & Lymphona Reasearch, have signed up to participate and others are looking to get interest from their supporters before taking part. Details of the walking festival are now available on http://www.northpennineswalkingfestival.org.uk.
