While Japan certainly possess talented players and have not missed a World Cup since their 1998 debut, they consistently underwhelm once they arrive at the big show. This summer may not be any different for them, especially given the turmoil in terms of the now former head coach Vahid Halilhodzic being sacked one month ago. With players like Shinji Kagawa, or Keisuke Honda, Genki Haraguchi, or even Leicester City’s Shinji Okasaki, Japan will field the talent to win games.

  • What Is Brand
WHAT IS BRAND ANS. A brand is a product, service, or concept that is publicly distinguished from other products, services, or concepts so that it can be easily communicated and usually marketed. A brand name is the name of the distinctive product, service, or concept. Branding is the process of creating and disseminating the brand name. Branding can be applied to the entire corporate identity as well as to individual product and service names. Brands are usually protected from use by others by securing a trademark or service mark from an authorized agency, usually a government agency. Before applying for a trademark or service mark, you need to establish that someone else hasn't already obtained one for your name. Although you can do the searching yourself, it is common to hire a law firm that specializes in doing trademark searches and managing the application process, which, in the United States, takes about a year. Once you've learned that no one else is using it, you can begin to use your brand name as a trademark simply by stating it is a trademark (using the " TM " where it first appears in a publication or Web site). After you receive the trademark, you can use the registered (?) symbol after your trademark. Brands are often expressed in the form of logos , graphic representations of the brand. In computers, a recent example of widespread brand application was the "Intel Inside" label provided to manufacturers that use Intel's microchips. A company's brands and the public's awareness of them is often used as a factor in evaluating a company.

  • Madrid Close In
PREVIEW ISSUE FOUR – 24TH APRIL 2012 MADRID CLOSE IN REAL TAKE THE SPOILS IN THE EL CLASICO AND CLOSE IN ON THE SILVERWARE After a poor week for both sides in Europe, Real and Barca were desperate to grab a win against their biggest rivals on a dramatic, rain-lashed Saturday night at the Nou Camp. It was Real that grabbed the vital win and probably clinched the La Liga title. Los Merengues went ahead through German midfielders Sami Khedira and were comfortable for long periods, but Barca’s Chilean substitute Alexis Sánchez equalised with just 20 minutes remaining. Cristiano Ronaldo’s clinical strike just three minutes later settled the game with Madrid now seven points clear, with only four games remaining. Madrid coach José Mourinho named an very attacking team and his side began the better. Ronaldo’s early header from a corner brought a superb flying save from goalkeeper Víctor Valdés. His opposite number Iker Casillas was then quickly off his line when full-back Dani Alves dispossessed Sergio Ramos. The game was being played at a fearsome pace and French striker Karim Benzema brought the best out of Valdés again. Barca thought they had gone front when Alves had the ball in the net after a Cristian Tello run, but the youngster had been flagged offside. KAPLAN GALLEYSPROOFS2 3/17/2015 9:57 AM UEFA FINANCIAL FAIRPLAY REGULATIONS AND EUROPEAN UNION ANTITRUST LAW COMPLICATIONS INTRODUCTION European Football1 is not just a sport to the rest of the world. Each match is more than just a game. A match can and has represented old battles that never die completely. The Celtic–Rangers rivalry is more than a cross-town rivalry, but a representation of the unfinished political fight over the Protestant Reformation.2 The Barcelona–Real Madrid rivalry represents a long-running nationalist fight between Castilian and Catalonian Spaniards.3 Celtic’s long running rivalry with Rangers Football Club (FC) is just another part of the centuries-old rivalry between Northern Irish Catholics and Protestants.4 While one’s club is a representation of his or her nation and tribe, it is also a business, as shown by the globalization of the sport.5 And just like any business, occasionally there are financial issues.

  • 3. Radamel Falcao
    3. Radamel Falcao 2013 has been an exceptional year for the Colombian and is one that has seen him grow and perform even better for both club and country. Falcao started the year at Spanish side Atletico Madrid, but has since moved to French big spenders Monaco. Here he has continued to thrive, although it could be argued that he is playing against weaker defences than before. At Atletico Madrid, Falcao was the star man and allowed the side to finish third in La Liga and thus qualify for the Champions League. Despite a slow start for Falcao due to injury, with the Colombian missing most of the opening month of 2013, the player put in a string of individually brilliant performances along the way for his team. For the vast majority of the time, Falcao played as an out and out striker, alongside or in front of Diego Costa and the Spanish side reaped the rewards due to his goals. Falcao reached his 200th career goal during this calendar year with his second of the game in a comfortable 5-0 victory against Granada. Falcao’s last goal for the side came in a 2-1 loss to Barcelona. The manner in which Falcao completed his career with Atletico is the moment, which he will most probably look back on as his fondest memory of 2013. The 27 year old turned provider in the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid and appeared to play deeper than usual rather than in his orthodox target man position. Ultimately, Atletico triumphed over bitter rivals Real Madrid in a closely fought 2-1 win.

  • Football Agents in the Biggest Five European Football Markets an Empirical Research Report
FOOTBALL AGENTS IN THE BIGGEST FIVE EUROPEAN FOOTBALL MARKETS AN EMPIRICAL RESEARCH REPORT FEBRUARY 2012 Raffaele Poli, CIES Football Observatory, University of Neuchâtel Giambattista Rossi, João Havelange Scholarship, Birkbeck University (London) With the collaboration of Roger Besson, CIES Football Observatory, University of Neuchâtel Football agent portrayed by the Ivorian woodcarver Bienwélé Coulibaly Executive summary While intermediaries acting in the transfers of footballers have existed since almost the birth of the professional game, the profession of agent was not officially recognised until 1991 when FIFA established the first official licensing system. In November 2011, there were 6,082 licensed agents worldwide: 41% of them were domiciled within countries hosting the big five European leagues: England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France. This research project firstly investigates shares in the representation market of players in the five major European championships. By presenting the results of a survey questionnaire, it analyses the socio-demographic profile of licensed football agents in the above mentioned countries, the business structure of their activity, the different kinds of services provided, and the way in which they are performed from a relational point of view (network approach). The analysis of shares highlights that the big five league players’ representation market is highly concentrated: half of the footballers are managed by 83 football agents or agencies. Our study reveals the existence of closed relational networks that clearly favors the concentration of players under the control of few agents. Footballers are not equally distributed between intermediaries. Conversely, dominant actors exist alongside dominated agents. One fifth of the agents having answered to our questionnaire manage the career of half of the players represented on the whole.
