Police were called after a report of a young male was seen with a large knife on a local park. A huge thank you to all Officers involved and to the member of the public who guided Officers to the location and identified the male. The male was detained and searched and a large ‘Rambo’ style knife was located in his tracksuit bottoms. The male was arrested and the investigation continues.

Please find below updates from your local beat team in relation to the priorities you have raised via Neighbourhood Link: • You said - Anti-social behaviour (ASB). The beat team have continued to address reports of anti-social behaviour around the open green spaces and parks. A pro-active approach has seen officers on foot patrol in plain clothes and patrolling areas such as Mossdale Park, Shakespeare Park and Franklin Park. PC Stu Clough spent an entire shift patrolling the parks this month, no reports of anti-social behaviour were reported during this time. We are aware of issues which have been largely unreported to us in relation to the anti-social behaviour of alleged stolen motorbikes being ridden around the location. Enquiries are ongoing in relation to this.

• You said - Road safety. This month our Speeding Operation was conducted by PC Stu Clough and PCSO Wright. The locations identified were Turnbull Drive, Braunstone Town and Murby Way, Thorpe Astley. In general the operation was very positive with only a handful of drivers given words of advice. A total of 12 vehicles have been seized this month for various reasons, including anti-social behaviour, no tax/insurance, a stolen van was recovered and another vehicle was seized after a driver failed to stop for the Police. Inconsiderate parking on some streets within Braunstone Town has been noted by local Officers and some are potentially dangerous especially around junctions. Officers will be speaking to the registered keepers.

• You said – Vehicle crime. Targeted patrols have continued around the beat in relation to vehicle related crime. At the time of writing a total of 8 reports have been received in relation to either the theft of a Motor Vehicle, the theft from a Motor Vehicle or criminal damage to a Motor Vehicle. Enquiries are ongoing and active intelligence is being gathered in an attempt to identify and deal with these offenders.

• You said - Nuisance motorbikes. Reports of dirt bikes or motorbikes have been reported riding in an anti-social manner along the track behind Aldi and Kingsway School. In addition we have received reports of a stolen motorbike riding around Braunstone Town. This bike has now been recovered and sent for forensics. The riders of these bikes who are causing this anti-social behaviour are notoriously difficult to locate and we rely heavily on help from local residents to help identify them. If you think you may know who these individuals are we would urge you to contact us as soon as possible.

What you have told us has helped shape our priorities for this beat. My colleagues and I will continue to keep you up to date on our progress. You can also follow what we are doing at Police on Facebook and Twitter. If you have any further feedback, questions or concerns then please do not hesitate to get in contact or say hello when you see us on the street. Of course, please remember you can report crime online at www.leics.police.uk or call 101. Please dial 999 in an emergency.
