Hoyt; Front row: James Paul Ferris, Danielle Ferris, Jim Ferris, Tonya Ferris, Michael Landolt and Ann Wismer, A Message from the President s an important stakeholder in the future of our state and nation, your choice to invest in Aeducation through gifts made to Sam Houston State University should bring you an enormous sense of pride while you read the 2014-2015 Annual Report to Donors. As you explore the pages, you will find a record 11,592 donors gave $16.5 million in support of the university. Without question, Sam Houston has been on the upswing for many years. This past fall, SHSU saw record enrollment go beyond the 20,000 mark. While we are an increasingly attractive choice for traditional and non- traditional students, our faculty and staff have done an outstanding job of strengthening retention and graduation rates. In addition to providing a caring environment that produces well-educated citizens, it is important to our students’ parents and to the state of Texas that recent graduates are able to find jobs. I am proud to say that Sam Houston State University is ranked second among 38 public universities, with 74.3% of our graduates securing employment within the first 12 months following graduation. As one of the fastest-growing universities in the nation, it is imperative we keep pace with enrollment while responding to the changing educational needs of our students.
