STORE CATTLE AUCTIONEER RICHARD DENNIS

114 Cattle A cracking trade at Hallworthy with a few less cattle. The top spot this week going to the Bass family of St Teath with a super trio of Aberdeen Angus with power & strength away at £1015. Close behind John Vincent of Pillaton with a fantastic pair of South Devon Steers at 18 mths away at £1000 his second pair realising £960. MF Bass ran in again at the same money with another trio of quality Aberdeen Angus and a trio of British Blue with plenty of time to £930. Heifers This section also topped out with the Bass family again with Aberdeen Angus, their best 3 topping out at £855. LJ Hodge of ran in close with a super young well defined Limousin x Hiefer to £850. DG Wherry of St Neot with their first outing to Hallworthy were well rewarded with their Hereford x Heifers – the first group away at £805, a pen of Red & White Heifers and a second pen of 3 to £800. Younger Cattle MJ Morcom ran in with a super group of Hereford x cattle his best a single Limousin Steer to £795 and a pair of 10mth to £770 and heifers away at £690 and £685. D Pickard of saw his young North Devon x Steer off of dairy to a top of £770 for a pen of 6 and heifers away at £675.

Friesians A good demand for Friesians saw LJ Hodge top out at £685 and £670 at 16 months and younger steer to £610 for D Pickard.

SHEEP AUCTIONEER STEVE PROUSE 07767 895366 234 DRAFT EWES A much faster trade for all grades with seven buyers present . Over all average of £76.19 well in front of other livestock centres in the South West. Top on the day was £110 from Richard Drew, Bude followed by £105 sold by CA Statton, Fennel Farm. 263 LAMBS

Much larger entry met a flying trade for all weights over all average of 259.1 well up on last week. Numerous pens over 270p to a top of 282p for a cracking pen of Polled Dorset 40.4kgs £114 from Andrew Hawkey Penpont, Wadebridge followed by 3 other vendors at 274p. Top per head on day was £122 for a pen of 47kgs Texel x from CA Statton, Fennel Farm, Badgall with 2 other vendors at £118. Nigel Taylor, St Wenn 47kgs and Mrs D Treffry of for a pen of Dorset 47.2kgs. 143 FAT HOGGS A very strong trade for all well fleshed Hoggs. Top per kilo being 215p from MR GJ Sleep, Boscastle 46kgs £99. The heavy Hoggs sold to a premium. Top call was £116 for 3 pens from Mr IC Gribble, Battens, North Hill. COUPLES 26 Ewes & 37 Lambs More couples which met with a very fast trade and more could have been sold. Singles sold up to £160 for a Texel x from Richard Drew, Lower Halls, Bude who also topped the Doubles at £208 with another 2 pens at £200.
