Last year, HP averaged a record 2.58 per game (183HR total was also a record), lead off the 13th , marking the second straight year atop the league. In addition, the Clippers served up 88HR, tied for most ever (2012), following two providing the decisive in a 3- straight years under 70. It took 42 games for Columbus to experience a walk-off last season (last team to participate in a walk-off). Unfortunately for the Clippers, Clevinger maintained the they were on the losing side at Louisville on 5/21/17. On 6/16/17 vs. Gwinnett, they became the last team in the IL to win in walk-off resulting 1.50ERA through each fashion, snapping a streak of 55 home games without, including playoffs. On 6/24/17 vs. Toledo, Eric Stamets's hit the first walk-off of his next five starts to earn a homer in HP since 8/25/14 vs. Indianapolis (Jesus Aguilar), snapping a 191 game stretch without one. Thanks to an 8-2 record in extra recall to Cleveland. (7-1 on the road), the Clippers had the best winning percentage in the IL in games decided in the last at bat (14-7, .667). On the year, the deciding run had been scored before the 5th inning in 81 of 142 games (before the 3rd inning 49 times). Bombs Away The Clippers ranked 3rd in the in homers last year and surrendered the most in the league, resulting in a -1 homer differential (7th). Columbus also led the league in games with at least one homer hit (94) and games with at least one homer allowed (90). Columbus has played 71 straight games with fewer than 2HR, dating to 6/22/17 (had at least 3HR in 10 of first 71 games last season, including four of seven games from 6/15-6/21/17).

Ain't Over 'Til It's Over Since the start of the 2014 season, no team has had more come from behind victories than the 136 posted by Columbus (33 last season) and no team has produced a better winning percentage when trailing than the .344 of the Clippers (no other IL team has won more than a third of games in which they have trailed over that time period; Scranton/WB ranks 2nd at .330). Columbus finished with the 2nd highest winning percentage in such games in 2014 (.356), led the circuit in 2015 (.365) and ranked 3rd in 2016 (.340). They lost their first 11 such games last year, before finally securing a comeback win on 4/26/17 vs. Lehigh Valley (last team in IL to do so).

A New ERA The 4.33ERA posted by the Clippers in 2017 was the worst since the 4.70ERA put up by the 2009 squad. From 2011-16, the Clipper staff turned in a sub-4.00ERA five times in six seasons (zero such seasons from 1993-2010), including the best two ERAs of the past 26 years (3.33 in 2015 and 3.65 in 2016). Last year's staff surpassed 1,000K, giving the Clippers at least 1,000K for the eighth time in the last nine years (only one 1,000K season through the first 32 years of the franchise, zero through the first 24). It took 62 games in 2017 for the amount of strikeouts from the starters to surpass that of the relievers.

Columbus Fan Company The Clippers led the league with 1,297K in 2017 and established a new franchise worst (1,200 in 2013). Individually, a Clipper had a golden sombrero 17 times last year, including a pair of games from , Tyler Naquin and Adam Moore, three from Nellie Rodriguez and four from Richie Shaffer. Rodriguez struck in 33 consecutive games from 4/18-6/2/17 and ranked 3rd in the IL with 181K, while Shaffer was 2nd with 188K (franchise record).

Golden Age for Defense In the first five years of the affiliation with Cleveland (2009-13), the Clippers never finished in the top half of the IL in defense. Starting in 2014, the Clippers have been one of the better teams in the league, finishing 6th that year, 1st in 2015 (set franchise records for defense) and 3rd in 2016 (at the time, 2nd best defensive numbers in franchise history). They were 3rd in the league in 2017, establishing new franchise records for fielding percentage (.984) and fewest errors (80).

Fortune Favors the Bold Ronny Rodriguez was cut down at the plate by an on 8/26/17, marking only the third time a Columbus runner had suffered such a fate since four straight games from 6/24-6/27/17. Shutouts: Prior to the 2017 season, Morimando had never thrown a shutout in his career (had never thrown a pitch in the 9th inning). He then tossed three over a span of four starts from 6/15-7/2/17. In so doing, he became the first Clipper with three shutouts in a season since 1990 (Dave Eiland and Wade Taylor). He finished the year tied with four others for 2nd most shutouts in a season, one behind Jim Deshaies for the franchise record (1984). He enters 2018 two behind Dave Righetti on the Clipper list for most career shutouts.

Breaking the Momentum: Over his final five starts leading into the All-Star Break, Morimando had three shutouts while posting a 1.15ERA (39.0IP, 5ER). Going back further, to his last 11 starts before the Break, he had a 1.73ERA (77.2IP, 15ER). In nine starts after the vacation, he registered a 6.84ERA (50.0IP, 38ER), watching his eight decision win streak from 5/29-7/14/17 come to an end in an ugly loss at Charlotte on 7/24/17.

Out of Gas: In Morimando's last nine starts, dating to 7/14/17, he has failed to complete the final inning he has started six times, while allowing at least 1ER eight times and posting a 30.60ERA in the process (5.0IP, 17ER). In all other innings he has started in that time, he has a 4.20ERA (45.0IP, 21ER).

Lots of Longballs: Morimando established a career high with 22HR allowed in 2017 (11HR at Huntington Park). After allowing 3HR in consecutive starts on 5/24/17 at Scranton/WB and 5/29/17 vs. Norfolk (had never allowed more than 2HR in career prior, 145 games), he settled in, allowing just two bombs in his next eight starts (faced 190 batters between homers from 6/3-7/14/17). However, he then served up 2HR in three consecutive starts from 7/19-7/30/17. Last season, Morimando gave up a homer in 13 of 26 starts, including seven multi-HR games (had four multi-HR games in career prior to 2017).

2018 : Morimando pitched in four games for Cleveland during spring training, posting a 5.40ERA (8.1IP, 9H, 5R, 5ER, 1BB, 7K). He was optioned to Columbus on 3/12.
