Norman was a supporter of Croydon, (now Maroondah), Box Hill and Power House and regularly went to watch their matches. He had served in the RAF as a navigator over Malta, West Africa and the Middle East. He was a schoolboy five eight or half back at his village school in Blackwood in his native Wales and Carmarthen University and was a member of the Welsh Choir in Melbourne.

Ewen McPherson Box Hill Rugby Club

Ewen McPherson died on 8 December 2010 as the result of a car accident. Ewen was a former Footscray RUFC member who had moved to Mitcham and was called on to assist the Box Hill Club in the early sixties when it was experiencing rapid growth in all grades.

In 1965 and 1966 he was Coach of the 2nd XV as well as being Vice-Chairman of Juniors in 1965 and Chairman of Juniors in 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969.
