V o rw o rt Uber die Coleopterenfauna von Cypern liegen mehrere zusammen­ fassende Bearbeitungen vor. Die erste geht auf BAUDI A SELVA (1869/70) zurück und fußt auf den Aufsam m lungen E. TRUQUIS. L a BRÜLERIE (1875) hat einen Katalog der Coleopteren von Syrien und Cypern verfaßt, in dem leider die auf Cypern gesammelten Arten von den aus Syrien stam­ menden nicht scharf getrennt sind. Schließlich hat G. P. GEORGHIOU (1977) in seiner Arbeit „The Insects and Mites of Cyprus“ auch die Coleopteren behandelt, wobei leider die kleinen Bodenkäfer so gut wie nicht berücksichtigt wurden. Durch die genannten Publikationen wurde zwar ein großer Teil der cyprischen Käferfauna erfaßt, keineswegs aber die Gesamtheit, so daß noch einiges zu entdecken übrig bleibt. Ich selbst hatte Gelegenheit, in der Zeit vom 25. Mai bis 14. Juni 1986 auf Cypern Coleopteren zu sammeln, leider nach einem Winter, in dem es auf Cypern sehr wenig geregnet hatte.
