What would you do if your menses arrived but you did not have adequate menstrual hygiene management? An estimated 3.75 million Ugandan girls are faced with this challenge monthly. 1 in 10 school girls in Uganda misses school or drops out completely due to lack of access to menstrual materials and other sanitary products. Circumstances like these continued to deprive young girls and women of their potential to exercise their right to health, education and dignity. Kampala Serena Hotel, the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa have partnered with SMART GIRLS UGANDA and Zimbe Collections to promote and protect the rights of the girl child as well as to increase awareness of their needs so as to achieve their full potential. Smart Girls Foundation in partnership with local women has designed a SPECIAL and PRETTY BACKPACK for girls fully equipped with a menstrual grooming kit (four ECO- pads that are reusable up to 12 months) and an illustrated SRH information kit to help address these challenges.
