What did we learn this week? This week we continued learning about Lag B’Omer, Shavuot, and explored the life cycle of a butterfly. The kids had a blast singing, dancing, and eating at the school’s delicious BBQ in honor of Lag B’Omer. We have a new class friend, the cute little caterpillars. We have been observing and learning so many great things about what the caterpillars eat and how much they have grown.

Pre-K

YOU!!! Wouldn’t believe what a great week we had in school this week. We learned the letter Y and his sound. We named words like yellow, young, yell, yo yo and many more. We got to play with yo-yo’s, and we loved spinning them up and down and learning to do different tricks.

We’ve been counting the sefira each and every day. We finally made it to Lag B’omer. We played with a bow and arrow had a fun field day outdoors painting with shaving cream spray painting and bubbles and parachute games. It was a fun dress to mess kind of day. We ended this beautiful holiday with a BBQ delicious burgers French fries, salad, watermelon, and ices for dessert.

Kindergarten English

The “K” class learned how children get to school in all different ways. Our amazing words were vaporetto, metro line, cable car, horse and buggy, trolley, and skis. We worked on drawing conclusions, verbs, main idea, and the plot. We drafted a how to do report as well. In math, we continued to learn about shapes and the amount of sides and vertices each has. In our science book we completed the chapter, night sky while in STEAM we learned about marine biologists and keeping the ocean free of debris. Shabbat Shalom and enjoy the weekend.

Kindergarten Hebrew

1st Grade English

I can’t believe we are in the month of May! In math, the children made clocks to help them tell time to the nearest hour and half hour. The next chapter in math will focus on representing data using different kinds of graphs. In reading, we read a non-fiction story, “Life in the Forest”. The children learned facts about plants and animals in a forest. In writing, the children wrote about planting a garden and what they would do to keep their garden beautiful. The children will learn about jellyfish and why they are important to the ocean. The class is excited to do a special Mother’s Day project.

1st Grade Hebrew

The first grade learned about Lag B’omer. We spoke about Rabbi Shimon bar Yuchi and Rabbi Akiva. The first grade started to learn the color unit and now we can describe items that we know in Hebrew with the matching color. The students can practice the Hebrew unit on Dahbear.org. Shabbat shalom

2nd Grade A English

We had a great week! The students had a blast at our Lag B’Omer BBQ. The students started chapter 10 all about graphs in math. We are already halfway through the book. We also began learning how to measure in inches. The students are learning how to properly use a ruler. They have been working extremely hard on their writing skills. Keep up the great work! 2nd A Grade Hebrew The second grade had a wonderful week learning more about Lag B’Omer and Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai. We made a Carob tree, a fountain and a bonfire in the middle of the class, we danced around it, we heard stories ,we read from the “ Hakadosh” The book that Rabbi Bar Yochai wrote in the cave, we ate ice cream and marshmallow in the honor of Lag B’Omer. We also had our root words quiz and I’m very happy all the kids did amazing! Please ask your child to share what he learned about the holiday and the Parasha. I hope you enjoy the pictures. 2nd B Grade Hebrew With Hashem's help and b'siman tov and mazal tov we started learning parashat Lech Lecha in our chumashim. Reading the pesukim and translating, what a great milestone for class 2B. The students enjoyed learning about Lag B'omer and R Akiva and R Shimon bar yochai and the importance of loving and respecting each other. What a happy week!! Lag B'omer sameach and Shabbat Shalom

3rd Grade English

We have been working hard in math by comparing fractions with like and unlike denominators. We also took our first New York State test. Everyone tried their best and I am sure did well. We are finishing up our jellyfish writing by creating our very own species. We are so excited to share them with the rest of the class. We are working hard on how to answer math multiple choice questions for the NYS Math test next week.

3rd Grade Hebrew We had such a fun week activities and learning. We learned about the holiday of Lag B’omer. The children worked on a packet about this holiday, and they are bringing it home. Feel free to go over if and ask your children about it. Beside the wonderful picnic and the BBQ that the children had, we also visited Morah Cochie’s class (2nd grade). They created a bonfire with a carab tree and a stream of water next to it to tell the story of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochay. It was amazing!

4th Grade English

It was a great week of fourth grade. We took our chapter 9 math test and did a great job! We also took our first New York State test. Everyone tried their best and I’m sure did well. We finished our essays on comparing our own species of jellyfish to most jellyfish that we see in the ocean. We are working on how to answer math questions and are excited to take the math state test next week.

4th Grade Hebrew

We finish to learn parashat Miketz in Chumash and class is reviewing the material for next week test on Tuesday. We learned about Lag B’Omer and we discussed the importance of respecting and loving our friends. The fourth grade took a vocabulary test this week and wrote 10 sentences as part of their test. Their sentences were amazing! Keep up the great work! Shabbat Shalom

5th Grade English We have been very busy this week in fifth grade! We’re midway through our math chapter on multiplying decimals and we are getting really good at it! This week we focused on with lots of fun activities! It was really great to “Interview a friend” in class! We spent time asking our partner questions and then we had to write paragraphs and tell the class about our person. We learned so many new things about each other! We can’t wait to interview our grandparents or VIP person next!

5th Grade Hebrew

The fifth grade is working hard studying for quizzes, test, translating stories and more. We had barbecue, music, and fun in honor of Lag B’Omer. Please make sure your child is prepared for our spelling test on Monday and Shmot exodus chapter 4 on Tuesday. Shabbat shalom.
