Neither team can now qualify, however, despite the weekend victory being Luxembourg's first win of the campaign. • Aleksandr Martynovich (Belarus) and Christopher Martins (Luxembourg) are both suspended after accumulating three bookings. The following players are a yellow card away from a ban: Timofei Kalachev, Igor Shitov (Belarus), Daniel Da Mota, Dwayn Holter, Ben Payal and Chris Philipps (Luxembourg). Previous meetings • Stanislav Dragun struck to cancel out Lars Gerson's opener as Belarus held Luxembourg to a 1-1 draw in the teams' first Group C encounter last September. • Belarus's record in seven matches against Luxembourg is W3 D3 L1 (W2 D0 L1 in Belarus – W1 D3 L0 in Luxembourg). The sides have been drawn together in three successive UEFA European Championship qualifying competitions, also pooled together in the run-up to UEFA EURO 2008 and UEFA EURO 2012. • On 13 October 2007, Alphonse Leweck's header secured a 1-0 triumph for Luxembourg in Belarus – their first competitive victory in 12 years. Form guide • Belarus are without a win in five competitive home games (D1 L4), including defeats in their last four – and their only three competitive games at the new Borisov Arena. • Luxembourg have lost their last five competitive away matches. They have not won in 17 away qualifiers (D3 L14) since a shock 2-1 success against Switzerland in qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup on 10 September 2008. Trivia and links • Luxembourg midfielder Payal turns 27 the day of the Belarus game. Team-mate Da Mota celebrates his 30th birthday three days later. • Luxembourg's record in four UEFA age-group competition matches against Belarus is W0 D2 L2. • In the only encounters between the nations' clubs in UEFA competition, Dinamo Minsk beat CS Hobscheid 6-0 at home in the first round of the 2001 UEFA Intertoto Cup, drawing the return fixture 1-1. 3 Belarus - Luxembourg Tuesday 8 September 2015 - 20.45CET (21.45 local time) Match press kit Borisov-Arena, Borisov Squad list Belarus Current season Overall Qual. What happened on 29 May 1985 at the Heysel stadium in Brussels was the darkest hour in the history of the UEFA competitions. Disaster struck the final of the Champion Clubs’ Cup between Juventus and Liverpool before a ball had even been kicked, leaving 39 spectators dead and injuring many more during what should have been a celebration of football. Whilst this tragedy could have called into question the future of the major European football competitions, particularly the Champion Clubs’ Cup, it soon became clear that defeatism was not the best way to pay tribute to the victims.

The past two years have therefore been a rather intense period, as UEFA has had to implement the new structures while at the same time addressing current football issues and launching new projects. Both these tasks were far-reaching and voluminous. Among other challenges, UEFA had to help find a solution to the issue of international transfers, cope with the complex demands of organising competitions, define the format for the club competitions and defend the centralised marketing of the rights to the UEFA Champions League. In terms of projects, we launched the club licensing system, created our subsidiary UEFA New Media, set up a new structure for marketing opera- tions and moved forward with our study aimed at allowing the use of artificial-turf surfaces in UEFA competitions. Details of all these processes and projects are to be found The UEFA in my two-yearly report to the Congress.

With his side trailing to a goal from Hakan Şükür, Larsson hit an 87th-minute equaliser, and Andreas Andersson grabbed a winner in added time. • Hakan Şükür has played in five games against Sweden, scoring twice. Four of those five games saw him playing opposite Larsson - who was an unused substitute in the other match. • In the four previous games in which the two legendary strikers have met, honours are even, with Sweden and Turkey winning a game each and the other two matches ending in draws. • Both strikers are now 36. Hakan Şükür has scored 51 goals in 112 appearances for Turkey - making him the leading active international scorer in European football - while Larsson scored 36 goals in 93 games for Sweden. • Galatasaray lost their opening Group H match 2-1 at FC Girondins de Bordeaux while Helsingborg drew 1-1 at home against Panionios GSS - Larsson levelling in the 83rd minute.
