Humla is often known as the ‘Hidden Himalaya’ due to its remoteness. Humla is one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal. is its district headquarters, which covers an area of 5,655 km² and has population of 50,858 as per the census of 2011. Residing in the elevation of 2945 meters it is also the gateway to holy Mt, Kailash and Lake Manosarober trek. The Northern part of is inhabited by Buddhists, originating from Tibet, whereas the South is mostly inhabited by Hindus.

The Limi Valley Trek combines most of the cultural places in Nepal. Having villages that are still untouched by modernization it offers a great insight into the rural lifestyle of Nepal. On the Limi Valley Trek one gets to experience various highlights; different passes such as Nyalu, Buddhist culture, Himalayan mountain ranges, beautiful Tshom Sho Lake, the salt trading route and many more. In the far western region of Nepal, there is a place called Humla, one of the tourist attractions where the tourists would like to trek. They will be heading to the border of Hilsa, one of the gateways to Tibet through which the Hindu devotees will head to Mount Kailash.

Humla is noticeable because it has dry landscapes, and beyond it, it has glaciers and red rocks. Along with these, there is a pass-through which the trekkers head further. Humla Trek comprises the old salt trading route, which connects to Tibet, and which will be the trekking route that will take you near the Karnali, the longest river in Nepal. The people living in Humla are called Humli, and they practice Hinduism and Buddhism as well as polyandry.

Accommodation

You will be staying at a 3-star hotel (Value) in Kathmandu on bed and breakfast with an attached bathroom, and at the best possible hotel or lodge or guesthouse during the trek. For more information on accommodation during the trek, please read the following words given below.

The higher places you reach during the trek, the accommodation facilities of the lodge decreases, in other words, the lodges that are at a higher altitude have a basic level of Toilet, you will have to spend a night in a twin sharing room, and you will not find an attached bathroom.

Transportation

Private car or van or bus or tourist bus or plane.

In your trip cost, we have also included the transportation fare, so that you do not have to pay from your pocket when you are in Nepal. The fare includes pick up from the airport as well as drop off at the airport, including other transportation facilities like tourist bus or local bus or plane in which part of Nepal you are traveling. You will be seeing us outside the airport holding the name of TMG Adventure when you arrive in Kathmandu. If you arrive in the late evening, we will straightly take you to the hotel, and if you arrive in the day time, you will take you to our office. Meals

You are trekking near the mountains, that is, you are trekking at a higher altitude, so your body needs energy, and you will get the energy from the food you eat. The foods that we provide you have the right amount of carbohydrate, protein, and fat. We will provide you these in all three square meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Guides

All our trekking guides have done training on how to tackle with altitude mountain sickness as well as how to use the first aid kit. They are also taught to take care of the trekkers 24/7 if they are affected by an altitude mountain sickness or if they are sick during the trek. Emergency evacuation if you need, you will be provided a helicopter. That is the reason why our guides have 24/7 access to TMG Adventure in Kathmandu.

Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance is a must because you are trekking near the mountains at an altitude of more than 3000 m. You must ensure in your country before coming to Nepal, before starting your trek. Please bring with you a copy of insurance, and your insurance policy must cover the medical expenses, helicopter evacuation from the altitude of 5000 m to 6000 m, and other things related to your health. Please give the copy to TRAVEL MAX GUIDE. It will send the information to the insurance company if you use the mountain rescue operation, mentioned above.

Passport and visa Before coming to Nepal, your passport has must have the validity of 6 months, and you can put the visa on your passport at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. The current cost of the Nepalese visa is the US $ 40 for 30 days, and you must also bring 4 passport-sized photos. If you are from China or SAARC countries, a free visa will be provided to you.

Company work through FAN (First Act Nepal) It’s a team that works purely for our children. Support for their well being through education providing child sponsorship programs. Assisting them in school uniforms, stationery, and school fees.

TMG Adventure donates a certain amount of its income to FAN annually, and the amount that it donates varies from year to year because the income that it earns also varies from year to year. Sometimes the income of TMG Adventure is high, and sometimes, it is low. Accordingly, the donation is made.

Outline Itinerary & Maps

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu, trip arrangements, meeting with staff

After arrival at the airport, transfer to the hotel in Kathmandu for check in. Meeting at our travel office for your trip arrangements and an introduction to our trekking staff. The rest of the day is free to explore or take a rest at the hotel. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Single Room:Twin sharing/ Private Room Day 02: Sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley

After breakfast our driver and tour guide will pick you up from the hotel to go sightseeing in the valley. Our first destination is the ancient Durbar Square of Bhaktapur, afterwards we drive to Patan Durbar Square where we also have a lunch break. In the afternoon we visit the sacred Hindu Temple of Pashupatinath, the giant Buddhist Stupa of Boudhanath and we finish up high at the hilltop Stupa of Swayambunath AKA the Monkey Temple. Our driver drops you back off at your hotel for your overnight stay.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private Room Day 03: Flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj (165m) - 50 min explore Nepalgunj

A morning 55 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Nepalganj a sub metropolitan city located in the terrain region of Nepal. We will stay here to explore this beautiful city and spend the night.

Single Room:Twin Sharing/Private Room Day 04: Flight from Nepalgunj to Simikot (2,950m) - 40 min

After breakfast and check out we head for the airport and depart to Simikot. The flight takes about one hour and provides some amazing views. After arriving in Simikot we check in the lodge and have the rest of the day free for exploration.

Single Room:Twin sharing Day 05: Trek to Dharapuri (2,300m) - 4 hrs

Today we start the trek officially and head for Dharapuri. The trail leads up the hill towards Yakba and back down to the Yakba River (Khola). From here we cross the bridge and enter Dharapuri for our overnight stay.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private Room Day 06: Trek from Dharapuri to Kermi (2,670m) - 4 hrs

Onwards to Kermi. Following the Karnali River the trail ascends and descends on various places. Today will be a short and rewarding trek as 30 minutes from the village we can visit and relax in the natural hot springs. Nearby Kermi we can visit a few Gompas and explore the farming town. For our overnight stay we set up camp with beautiful mountain views.

Single Room:Twin Sharing/Private room Day 07: Trek to Yalbang (3,020m) - 5 hrs

Heading slightly upwards the trail goes through valleys and wheat fields until crossing a pass, from here a steep downwards hike until reaching the Sali River Bridge. After crossing the bridge we ascend through beautiful forest trails with below us the familiar Karnali River. Reaching Yalbang we set up camp and explore in this beautiful town, home of a children’s hospital, monasteries and various Buddhist statues. Overnight at the camping site.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private room Day 08: Trek to (3,120m) - 4 hrs

Today we head for Muchu. The trail brings up high above the Karnali River, although being mostly flat the path can change into rocky open roofed tunnels and gorges. Slowly ascending until reaching Munchu village. For our overnight we can choose to stay with the locals on a homestay basis or we can continue our trek one hour further until Tumkot for a camping site.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private room Day 09: Trek to Yari (3,700m) – 4 hrs After leaving Yari the trail becomes more ascending with some steep climbs. We can see a change in the landscape as well. The forests give way to a more barren landscape as we reach higher and higher. The trail forms in to a dirt road all the way until reaching Yari where we can stay at a local tea house for the night.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private room Day 10: Trek to Hilsa (3,720m) across the Nara La Pass (4,620m) - 7 hrs

The Nara La Pass with a height of 4,620 meters will be our biggest obstacle today. We have a very long and hard climb until reaching the Pass. On the way we can see caravans of yaks and mules. Passing Tado Dunga we climb further up until finally reaching the Nara La Pass. From the Pass we can peer into Tibet or downwards the Nepalese valley and Yari village. After taking some memorable pictures we head down towards Hilsa for our overnight stay.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private room Day 11: Trek to Manepeme (3,900m) - 5 hrs

From Hilsa we cross the bridge and follow the trail over a slope ascending until it becomes a larger trail. We follow the Karnali River eastwards with ups and downs until reaching Manepeme village for our overnight stay.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private room Day 12: Trek to Til (4,000m) - 6 hrs

We have a long climb ahead towards the Lamka La Pass. Following our ascending rocky trail we pass the famous Ya Yip Phuk meditation cave. Continuinig more upwards until reaching the Lamka La Pass the trail becomes greener. After crossing the Pass we head downwards until reaching the village of Til, our camping side is a one hour climb above the village with beautiful views of the glaciers and mountain ranges. Overnight stay at the camping site.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private room Day 13: Trek to Halji (3,660m) - 3 hrs

Today is an easy day when we head for Halji village. We follow the trail alongside the Limi River on flat fround passing various rural villages and monasteries until reaching Halji. Having a lot of time left on this day we can take our time and explore all this area has to offer. We have chances to spot blue sheep or when very lucky the elusive snow leopard.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private room Day 14: Trek to Jang (3,930m) - 4 hrs

Jang is our destination today. We hike along the trail following the Limi River through grassy fields until reaching the village of Jang. Here the Tibetan culture remains untouched by modern influences and we can take a visit to one of the Gompas, hot springs and explore this beautiful village.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private room Day 15: Trek to Talung (4,370m) - 8 hrs

From now we won’t be seeing any more villages until we reach back to Kermi. Walking through vast landscapes of pure nature the views become more spectacular. Following streams and tricky paths we ascend further and further until reaching Talung where we will set up camp for the night.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private room Day 16: Trek to Shinjungma (3,620m) across the Nyalu La Pass (4,940m) - 8 hrs

Today we will reach the highest point of our trek at 4,940 meters the Nyalu La Pass. It will be a hard day with a strenuous snowy and ice covered trail. Once up on the Pass we are rewarded with views that will take your breath away. From here we have 360degree view of Tibet and the Humla region with the mighty Mt. Kailash and Saipal in the distance. After this break we head down reaching Selma Tso Lake and even more down along the Sali River until reaching our campsite at Shinjungma for our overnight stay.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private room Day 17: Trek to Kermi (2,670m) - 7 hrs

Back to the known world! We drop back under 3000 meters and follow the familiar Karnali River back to Kermi Villages where the hot springs await our return. Overnight at Kermi.

Single Room:Twin sharing/Private room Day 18: Trek to Simikot (2,950m) - 6 hrs

Heading back to Simikot we have a pleasant ascending hike on flat trails passing some familiar villages that we know from the start of our trek. We continue all the way until reaching Simikot and stay at the lodge.

Day 19: Flight to Nepalgunj (165m) and Kathmandu (1,350m) - same day

We depart in the morning by flight back to Nepalgunj and transfer on the next flight back to Kathmandu. After reaching the airport we get a transfer back to the hotel and in the afternoon we visit the office for our trek reviews.

Today is a day at full leisure in Kathmandu, wander the streets of Thamel, and relax at the restaurants or hotel. A full day at your disposal.

This day your trip concludes here. TMG’s representative will drop you to the Tribhuvan International Airport by the private vehicle.
