Marine Act 1988 SECTION 15 NOTICE I, Diane Julie Bates, the Director of Marine Safety, on the recommendation of Jamey Mullen, Manager Recreational Liveability, Latrobe City Council (the Waterway Manager for Narracan), hereby give notice under subsection 15(1) of the Marine Act 1988, that: 1. the rules regulating the operation of vessels on the Waters – Lake Narracan set out in Schedule 130 of the Notice made under section 15(2) of the Marine Act 1988 are hereby revoked; and 2. replaced by the following rules regulating the operation of vessels on the Waters of Lake Narracan. SCHEDULE 130 WATERS – LAKE NARRACAN Waterway Manager – La Trobe Shire Council For the purposes of this Schedule, Lake Narracan is divided into the following areas. Area A –Those waters of Lake Narracan that lie west of a line marked by a line of yellow buoys between a boating information sign post located on the southern shore of the lake at the Newborough Drain and another located opposite on the northern shore. Area B –Those waters of Lake Narracan east of Area A and extending to a line of yellow buoys between a boating sign post located at Broadwood Reserve on the Fernlea Channel and one located opposite on the northern shore. Area C – Those waters of Lake Narracan east of Area B and extending to a line between two points on the shore, 38° 09′ 45.29′′ S 146° 20′ 11.17′′ E, 38° 09′ 40.86′′ S 146° 20′ 15.62′′ E. Area D – Those waters east of a line between two points on the shore, 38° 09′ 45.29′ S 146° 20′ 11.17′′ E, 38° 09′ 40.86′′ S 146° 20′ 15.62′′ E. 1. Speed Restrictions for the purposes of Clause 7. Those waters of Lake Narracan designated Area B are subject to a speed restriction of 5 knots. 2. Prohibition of vessels for the purposes of Clause 9. (a) Those matters of Lake Narracan that are east towards the dam wall from a line of red buoys between a signpost on Boom Point (38° 10′ 07.51′′ S, 146° 20′ 25.43′′ E) and a similar signpost on the northern shore (38° 10′ 04.93′′ S 146° 20′ 26.75′′ E) are prohibited to all vessels. (b) Those waters of Lake Narracan on the north-east shore of Halls Bay within 50 metres of the shore between two signs marked ‘Swimming Area’ and marked by red buoys are prohibited to all vessels. 3. Prohibition on Vessels with Engines for the purposes of Clause 10. Those waters of Lake Narracan on the northern shore of the area known as Thompsons Bay (within Area C) between the shore and a line of yellow buoys are set aside for manually propelled vessels only.

4. Exclusive use and Special Purpose Area for the purposes of Clause 13. (a) Those waters of Lake Narracan designated Area A are set aside for manually propelled vessels only. – Hovercraft Club hovercraft activities are permitted to operate in Area A when red fl ags are displayed from buoys between a boating information sign post located on the southern shore of the lake at the Newborough Drain, and another located opposite on the northern shore. (b) Those waters of Lake Narracan designated Area C, other than those waters which are otherwise specifi ed as an area prohibited to vessels with engines, are set aside for vessels engaged in waterskiing and vessels with engines used for propulsion which can exceed 5 knots. (c) Those waters of Lake Narracan designated Area D are set aside for the exclusive use of waterskiing. – Those waters of Lake Narracan designated Area D are set aside for the exclusive use of the Latrobe Valley Ski Club at such times when red fl ags are displayed from the buoys designating Area D.
