Free School Meals If you feel that you might be entitled to free school meals, please contact the Free School Meal Service on 0300 123 5012. They will take some details from you and advise immediately whether you are eligible or not. If you are eligible, they will contact the Academy. It is important that you register for free school meals as the system brings extra funding into school which is spent on the child. Please call at the Academy office if you are unsure.

Changes to the Academy holiday dates As part of the celebrations for VE Day, the May Bank holiday has been moved to Friday 8th May 2020. We can also confirm a further INSET day will take place on Friday 19th June 2020. Please add these dates to your diary.

Safety on school premises A reminder to parents/carers please keep to the path on your way in and out of school and use the zebra crossing when going to the nursery. Your children’s safety is of the highest priority to us. Can parents/carers also remind children that scooters should be left with bikes and not used on the school premises. Bikes and scooters are left at your own risk?

Before /After school KS1 parents/carers are required to stay with their children until the doors open at 8.50am children should not be left unsupervised. The school gate will open at 2.55pm for collection at 3.05pm for Early Years and KS1 children and 3.10pm for KS2. Unless children are booked into the Afterschool Club, they will remain on the playground with an adult for no more than 10 minutes for both Key Stages. Please note in the case of repeated late collection, (more than 2 occasions) a charge of £5 will be made for this childcare service. In the case of an emergency please ensure you inform the Academy office that you are running late.

Activity Clubs after school If your child has been accepted for an activity club after school, you will receive a slip in the book bag and a notification in the communication diary.

Naming Uniform Please ensure that all items of uniform are labelled with your child’s name. Already this week we have received reports of over 10 jumpers going missing. It is difficult to return property if the items are not named. If you can remind your child that their property is their responsibility and if you do not have name labels please use a sharpie or similar to label the uniform.

Earrings When participating in PE children must have earrings removed or covered with a plaster or micro tape. If you could ensure that your child has a supply of these plasters in school as staff are unable to put them on children due to allergies. Alternatively children can come to school with their ears already covered up if you wish to do this for them at home.

Healthy eating Children are allowed to bring a healthy snack and water bottle into school with them. Unless your child has a medical reason the water bottle should only contain water rather than juice due to the high sugar content. School water bottles will be available to buy at the school shop shortly.

Crewe Library Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge Children who have taken part in the challenge are encouraged to bring their awards in to school to share their wonderful reading achievements as part of our assembly on Tuesday 17th September.

Homework A reminder that details of your child’s homework can be found in their communication diary (older pupils), on the classroom noticeboard, on the outside of the classroom windows and on the Academy website (under the year group) for details of the homework. If you have any concerns or queries, please speak to your child’s class teacher. In KS2, there is lunchtime Homework Club available for children are able to attend.

Aldi’s Kit for schools We are now collecting Team GB stickers with Aldi’s Kit for Schools. You can collect these stickers when you shop at Aldi. There will be a collection point for stickers in the reception area. The Academy will receive an exclusive sports kit if we collect enough stickers and be entered into a draw to win £20,000.
