MetroWest Phase 2 development costs - Scheme Summary
MetroWest Phase 2 will increase train services to Yate from hourly to half-hourly, plus provide an hourly service on the Henbury Line with new stations at Henbury and North Filton and another at Ashley Down on Filton Bank. MetroWest Phase 2 provides high value for money and has a secured funding base.
For the first time in over fifty years the residents of Henbury and Ashley Down will have a regular train service. For the new residents of the Cribbs Patchway New Neighbourhood it is even better, with new stations at Henbury and North Filton and direct train services to Bristol Temple Meads via Filton Abbey Wood. The frequency of trains at Yate will increase from hourly to half-hourly, providing more choice and seating capacity; and the project is investigating the option to extend the new services beyond Yate to Gloucester with Gloucestershire County Council.
This is a £43m scheme which utilises funding of £3.2 from the Local Growth Fund for the development costs of Phase 2. Output from the development phase part-funded by the Local Growth Fund consists of:
• Outline and Full Business Cases for the Joint Local Transport Board (in accord with its assurance framework); • GRIP3 and GRIP4 reports from Network Rail; • GRIP5 detail design & build tender prices.
The Preliminary Business Case for Phase 2 (including the GRIP 2 Feasibility Study) was endorsed by the West of England’s Joint Transport Board. For further information please visit www.travelwest.info/metrowest
