C. Thomas Hopkins Jr., MD

Dr. Hopkins is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon and board certified in orthopaedic sports medicine. A Griffin, Georgia native, where he graduated high school, Dr. Hopkins is very much involved in his community and many state organizations.

He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Valdosta State University and then matriculated to the University of Georgia to complete his pre-medicine tract.

Dr. Hopkins received his medical degree and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine in Atlanta, Georgia under the direction of Dr. John Garrett. Dr. Hopkins continued his postdoctoral training in Toronto, Canada completing an AO fellowship in orthopaedic trauma under the direction of Drs. Schatzker and Tile.

Dr. Hopkins served in the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon and later as an orthopaedic surgeon caring for our airmen and their dependants. He currently serves as Chair of the University System of Georgia Board of Regents. Dr. Hopkins is a board member of MAG Mutual Insurance Company and United Bank Corporation. His professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Medical Association of Georgia, Georgia Orthopaedic Society where he has served as past president, Arthroscopy Association of North America, Spalding County Medical Society, and the Rotary Club of Griffin serving past president.

Dr. Hopkins is married with two adult children and enjoys spending time with family, hunting, fishing, and serving his community. He is acting team physician for Griffin High School, Spalding High School, Pike County High School, and Gordon College.
