AUGUST 11 -14

16 CORRECTION

The March 1983 issue of The Collector published my article entitled "The Pour le Mer--~e ~--i~he Kriegsmarine." In a footnote to that article, I indicated that, in addition to the 16 naval officers who won the Pour le Merite in World War I and served again in the World War II Kriegsmarine, there were also two others who became generals in the Luftwaffe.

David Edkins, author of The Prussian Pour le Merite, has kindly brought to my atte-~iont--~there were tF~eeo--~hese former naval officers who went into the later Lut--~ffe. In addition to Generals Christiansen and Osterkamp, who were mentioned in the footnote, Rudolf Wenninger, who had won the PLM as Komman- dant of UB-55, also became General der Flieger in the Luftwaffe of World War II Germany. --- E. Edward Ebrite, OMSA #1933.
