The mission and objectives of the Society for Emergency Medicine India (SEMI) are as follows:

Emergency physicians/residents/paramedics/nurses are encouraged to present original research conducted in their institutes so that useful information can be disseminated at EMCON 2015.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS Competitive Original research study done by a PGY3 (third/final year) trainee in emergency medicine from an institute recognized by SEMI. (Trainees under the MD-EM, MD-A&E, MEM, MCEM are eligible). Confirmation letter from the HOD required. Those who have completed their 3yr residency on/after 1st January 2015 can also apply. Presentation should be 8 mins duration only and to be in Microsoft Powerpoint format. Oral presentation slots are limited. Case presentations are not included here. Trainees who have passed exit examinations without completing 3yr residency are not eligible.

Non-competitive Original research study in emergency medicine conducted by all other trainees (PGY1, PGY2) and non-trainees. Clinical case presentations and EMS research are included here under separate sections. All international papers included here.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS Competitive and non-competitive as described above. Research content has to be put on a vertical poster of size 48" (height) x 36"(width). Height may be lower, but width should not exceed 36". Speakers will have 8 minutes duration to present their poster content to the judges.

RANKING CRITERIA Research will be judged based on the originality of study, relevance to EM, methodology, sample size, findings of the study, extent of influence on patient care and style of presentation. There will be negative marking for crossing time limit and if any promotional/commercial content is present in the presentation (use of hospital logos, irrelevant pictures, speakers promoting a brand, etc). Any unethical practices found in a study will be informed directly to the HOD for improvement.

PRIZES Prizes for 'Best Research' will be given to the top 3 presenting authors under all categories.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION FOR RESEARCH PAPERS All abstracts (oral and posters) should be in Microsoft Word format and must not exceed 400 words. Abstract must contain the following headings - Title of the study, Name of author/s & Institute, Introduction, Objective, Methodology, Observations, Conclusion and Name of presenting author.

Senior emergency physicians/paramedics/nurses/EM administrators are encouraged to present original clinical audits and EM projects conducted in their institutes so that useful information can be disseminated at EMCON 2015.

Projects could be clinical care improvement in ER/EMS, or ED process improvement activities. They should involve identification of a problem, measurement/observation of the problem, improvement strategies, application of new process/changes in existing process, manpower/effort involved, evidence of improvement, and conclusion/recommendations of the project.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS Presentation should be 8 mins duration only and to be in Microsoft Powerpoint format. Please note that oral presentation slots are limited.

Hyderabad city is the capital of the southern Indian state of and de jure capital of Andhra Pradesh. Occupying 922 square kilometers (356 sq mi), it has a population of about 6.8 million and a metropolitan population of about 7.75 million, making it the sixth most populous urban agglomeration in India. At an average altitude of 542 meters (1,778 ft), much of Hyderabad is situated on hilly terrain around artificial lakes, including the famous , north of the city centre. Telugu (the state language of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh) and Urdu are widely spoken in Hyderabad. English and Hindi are understood almost everywhere.
